Fathom 2.4. is based on the movie "Deep Blue Sea", this Minimod is set on a remote floating base with much of the facility underwater. It has 4 maps and this is the map I submitted for the Comp Water and came first. I actually never got any feedback from it (except from Dave who sent a PM last week) so please rate and comment. Quick storyline, you are on an old submarine refueling station now used as a science lab studying sharks and how their cells reproduce so quickly. But then the storm hits! The story rolls out as you play on the various computer screens. Enjoy!
Very nice! I liked this mod mainly because of the atmosphere and the mapping. It was gorgeous, with flooded underground labs, thunder storms, damaged equipment, fantastic textures, and a great ending (because it was a good ending!), plus a nice scripted sequence at the start. I personally replaced the High Definition models with the Low Definition ones, they look better! The only down-side is that it's a very hard mod, because of the sharks (remodeled Ichtyosaurs). They are incredibly strong, fast, and difficult to kill with the Crossbow (believe me, you don't want to fight them with a crowbar...!). Plus you had to fight them in small, cramped rooms. It was very hard! Another nice touch was the addition of small Piranas that work exactly like the Leeches from Half-Life, only remodeled to fit them into the mod's story and atmosphere!
If only! thats what comes to mind everyime I think about this. Its got the makings of a great mod but its so short its barely even scratch upon the surface of having a opinion. The premise is good, the new creatures are very well placed and fit contextually. Its good the perfect weapon that was obviously made for this kind of environment that even the original HL saw very little use of in this environment (crossbow duh). If this was maybe half an hour longer than the almost 15 minutes it took to finish, I would have given it maybe 9 or 8 depending on how well the level design matches the unique design it was having so far. Ah so close to a gem its a shame the creator never expanded.
