As I'm sure most of you know, we have officially released the mod!
There is only one requirement to play the game:
- You MUST have "Source SDK Base" installed to play. This will be the norm for every Source mod from here on out, so be sure to leave it installed. To install it, Open Steam and expand the "Games Section". Then click Tools section and install "Source SDK Base". If this does not show up, make sure you are on a Steam account which has any Source game purchased.

Thanks guys, and I'll see everyone on the battlefield! :-)

im sure the lag is fixable, and the team behind eternal silence have made it clear that they are aware of the problem. give it a few weeks and im sure it'll be fixed
Best mod ever tbh
And you can select your target to lock the missile !
I'm having fun with it, but the lag is almost unbearable.
For crying out loud! its a beta!
be·ta (bā'tə, bē'-)
1. Mostly working, but still under test; usu. used with “in”: in beta. In the Real World, hardware or software systems often go through two stages of release testing: Alpha (in-house) and Beta (out-house?). Beta releases are generally made to a group of lucky (or unlucky) trusted customers.
2. Anything that is new and experimental. “His girlfriend is in beta” means that he is still testing for compatibility and reserving judgment.
3. Flaky; dubious; suspect (since beta software is notoriously buggy).
Historical note: More formally, to beta-test is to test a pre-release (potentially unreliable) version of a piece of software by making it available to selected (or self-selected) customers and users. This term derives from early 1960s terminology for product cycle checkpoints, first used at IBM but later standard throughout the industry. Alpha Test was the unit, module, or component test phase; Beta Test was initial system test. These themselves came from earlier A- and B-tests for hardware. The A-test was a feasibility and manufacturability evaluation done before any commitment to design and development. The B-test was a demonstration that the engineering model functioned as specified. The C-test (corresponding to today's beta) was the B-test performed on early samples of the production design, and the D test was the C test repeated after the model had been in production a while.
nice one king turd.
"wah wah wah. this beta of this free game made by people in their spare time isnt perfect."
get real.
The errors arent vital. The problem lies with the netcode.
I thought it was very good. I didn't have any performance issues, playing with over 100 ping. And although it's true that to begin with there is little information on what you're meant to do it was fairly simple to work out and after about 1/2hour of playing I knew exactly what was going on.
Yeah sorry for double post but I forgot to mention that I did try redownloading and reinstalling 3 times and I still got all the performance errors.
You can see why the game is choppy if you look at the console. Every other message in the console will be a performance warning, saying it's missing whatever file and can't find it and such. That's why the game is so laggy. I checked my fps and I get in 60s to 80s and my ping is like 40 or 50 depending on server (as long as it's in the US).
had such high hopes for this mod, but it fails in so many areas :(
sure the mod is impressive technically, with the ship flying and what not and the highly detailed models/textures, but the mod just isnt... fun. The space fighting and infantry fighting are way subpar compared to games that just focus on either point, and the entire game is choppy to hell even in servers where i get 40 ping.
Especially for new players (which is basically everyone), we have no idea coming into the map what in the hell we are suposed to do and how we are suposed to do it.
if iron grip doesnt live up to its hype either im going to cry :(
oh well....
can i get a WHAT!!!!
For a first outing, this mod is fantastic.
It has its problems such as the netcode issues (which almost every HL2 multi mod has had problems with at some point or another) and some gameplay issues. I felt the "boarding" aspect was a little too awkward. It seemed someone would bounce their aircraft around the hangar for a few minutes, hop out, and get shot to death by the five guys standing around the hangar.
But for being so ambitious, you guys have delivered. Keep up the good work.
