Empires is a mod for Half-Life 2 which will combine the genres of real-time strategy and first person shooter. Each team has four classes to choose from (scout, rifleman, grenadier, and engineer) with unique weapons and skills each. One player will become the commander by entering the team's command vehicle to build the team's base and lead his team to victory. Once your base is built up, purchase vehicles from your team's vehicle factory to open up another facet of Empires' gameplay. Vehicles can be customized with unique weapons, armor, and engines. The commander can research improvements to all aspects of vehicles such as longer range cannons, homing missiles, and armor-piercing machine gun rounds. Once your team is prepared, lead an assault into the enemy base. The enemy team is defeated when all players are wiped out with either no place to respawn or no reinforcements remaining or the team's command vehicle is destroyed.
Empires v2.24 Full Client Install
Description
This will install the Empires v2.24 client. The Orange Box version of Source SDK Base is required to play this game, and comes free with the purchase of almost any Source-based game from Valve. This installer does not require you to have previously installed Empires.

whats the difference between client and server installer?

If you are unable to download the .exe installer file, it is likely because of security restrictions you have in place on your computer. This is most often the case if you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer for your web browser, or if you have unusually high security settings in Microsoft Windows. I recommend Firefox, an excellent open source and standards-compliant web browser. You can also look for more information regarding these security settings and find out how to allow the downloading of executable files.

The client installer is needed if you wish to play Empires on your computer. The server installer is not needed for most people, only download it if you are planning to host a server. Note that for either one, you need to have the Orange Box Source SDK content in order for the server or client to run properly. Also, most computers are not capable of running a stable server, let alone running a server and client at the same time.

Server means the people who make the servers you join in the game and client is for you because your the client who wants to play the game
