ESF is a fast paced, 3rd person fighter based on the hit anime, Dragonball Z. Select your favorite character and fly, power up, transform, melee, and beam your enemies into pulp. Each character is given signature moves and abilities to compliment different style of play. Some are stronger in hand to hand combat, others are better with energy attacks. Play in three different game modes, deathmatch, team deathmatch, and capture the dragonballs. There is a learning curve so newbies beware. This is not your normal Half-life mod.

Report RSS Two new videos: night/day cycle & explosions

Tonight the team has a couple videos to share. The first is a quick 30 second video that shows the dynamic shadows, night/day cycle, and other shaders that Ryokeen has been working on. The second video shows a comparison between ESF Beta 1.2.3 explosions and the new ESF: Final explosions that Dalte has been working on.

Well, well. It's been a while since our last official news post, but hopefully you all have been checking the ESF site on a weekly basis. Most of the recent updates have been given out as pictures of the week (POTW).

The second video shows a comparison between ESF Beta 1.2.3 explosions and the new ESF: Final explosions that Dalte has been working on.

For demonstration purposes the day/night cycle time was set to 1 minute; 30 second for sunrise to sunset. The option for the day/night cycle is configurable by map creators and can be set to a fixed time.

There are a few different sized explosions that show depending upon which attack is fired. The dust from the explosions can be a handy tool for distracting opponents while trying to make an escape or while trying to mask an approach.

How the hell did you guys included dynamic shadows on the HL1 engine!? Do you guys have access to the engine source code?

Not unless Funimation buys the rights to the HL license and then proceeds to buy us out, or Valve buys the license to DBZ.

That is more likes it compared to ESF 1.2.3 ! I simply love it the animations. I have a question:

Will there be destructable enviroments somewhat like in the dragonball: Raging blast 2? That would be awsome.

I have seen all your videos and watched since you announced Final version and kept looking on updates. It´s an good effort you have put in to this game. I can see there is a lot of heart and passion in this modd.

Grega, Im surprised why noone has discovered your talents in making this this game from other companies...I say it again. I simply love DBZ and I love your progress within this modd. I love this better than other dbz game ever made. You have made it from half life engine and evolved it to something really unique. Please dont stop what you guys are doing. Make this a good one. It is better to wait a bit and release a fully funtional modd. I know many have waited for this game, me at least have checked almost every day to see if it has released :). Good luck with the future release...

In theory you could play with a controller if you decide to use HLs next/previous weapon function to switch between attacks, instead of the number buttons.

But the need for fast and precise aim means that with a thumbstick for aiming, you will most likely have a lot of problems hitting anything.
