Dynamic Campaign Generator (DCG) is a mod for the game "Men of War" and some of its successors that randomly generates skirmish missions and lets you keep your surviving forces from one battle to another. Some people find this mod tricky to install the first time - please read the readme.txt carefully and ask for help (if you need it) on our forums here on this site, or at the game developer's site.

Hello

First I would like to thank you for your outstanding mod. I have just tried it and it is fantastic

If its is possible I would like to ask you on about vehicle paint schemes.

I have made "captured versions" for different vehicles including x destroyed skins but I have no idea on how to make them working. Please may you explain me what files should I edit do in order to have them available?

I have another question, sorry to ask. I would like to edit some inventory items icons but I am not able to find them. I guessed I have searched in all .pak and .pat files but I didn't find them. I am sure I am missing something. May you adress me where inventory items icons are located?

Thanks a lot

To get your new paint schemes to appear, you will need to alter the vehicle.xlm files (they are named differently depending on nation), basically if you have named your new paint scheme "crusader#5" you will look up the crusader entry in the vehicle.xml file, and then add this number "5" to the entry under the line saying textures. However, this will also make your captured paint schemes to appear on ALL vehicles, no matter if they are captured or not. This is due to the way DCG applies random textures. In the future it might be re-worked but it isnt a top priority for us now.

If you like to edit inventory items, you will have to open up the correct .pak file. Items like small arms are usually located in "resource/entity/inventory/-weapon" and other items appear in other places, like -equipment, -ammo etc. However some of them appears in resource/texture/common/inventory".

The easiest way to find where a skin for a item is located, it to open one of its .ply with notepad, make a note of the name of the material file (either named "basic skin.mtl" or "basic skin.tif.tex" (basic skin can be named anything, like material1, cannon etc) and then open the material file with notepad and then you can see where the skin for the item is located.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your helpful and quick post Zeke.

After some research I am making some historical textures for ARVN soldiers (paras, regulars with some different camo patterns) vehicles and also captured North Vietnamese versions of US/ARVN vehicles. If you consider they could be interesting I could send some samples for you.

About the inventory items I am afraid what I am looking for its not the skins, but the inventory image (the ones you see when you open an inventory) but I have no idea what I am missing out. I guessed I've decompressed all .pak and .pat files but I am unable to find them

Hello and thank you again Zeke

I've been following your advice, now vehicle skins works nicely and made some minor skin changes in items too.

Also I've been trying to change the view at inventory but is quite difficult to change the "Extender preview" values of .mdl files without reference. I suppose those values were created when the model was done

Is there a way or tool I could use to change or made tests with the camera view so I could copy the values in the .mdl file?

The only "tool" I know, is 3ds Max. I canĀ“t create these camera views with Milkshape 3D (which is the 3d software I am using to create new models for DCG), and thus, I copy these views from original MoW models and then rework them to look somewhat good, with Notepad.

Again thank you for your help.

Really the mod is magnificent and at least for me its really a must be the game.

If I may share some wishes for next version of DCG Vietnam here they are:

1.- More maps
2.- More vehicles. BA-64, SU-76 and SU-100 were employed by the NVA, early war and the ARVN had M3 halftracks
3.- More infantry units like NVA/VC sappers, ARVN rangers, USMC...
4.- More infiltration options
5.- Schemes for captured vehicles

I know MoW V its not as popular as MoW AS but I have been adding some infantry units for personal use and also made different skins for infantry and vehicles. I would gladly send them to you and so happy if you consider they could be included.
