Dynamic Campaign Generator (DCG) is a mod for the game "Men of War" and some of its successors that randomly generates skirmish missions and lets you keep your surviving forces from one battle to another. Some people find this mod tricky to install the first time - please read the readme.txt carefully and ask for help (if you need it) on our forums here on this site, or at the game developer's site.

Usually this problem occurs due to some missing files: Did you install the three necessary subprograms (read more about it here Moddb.com)?

I have had the same problem. And I have all the sub programs installed. Tried re downloading still the same result.

Do you run any other mods at the same time as DCG? Have you manually changed anything in any of the xml files?

Thanks for the quick response, no I'm not running any other mods and I have not changed anything in the files.

Stupid question but... did you download the correct version, ie. you hasnt, by mistake, downloaded the Men of War version of DCG instead of the MoW:AS version?

The only time I´ve personally have seen the "Campaign has stopped working" bug, is when I have changed something in the xml files, and made an error when doing so.

I also noticed that the original poster has Steam installed on his/hers C: partion. Both Vista and Windows has a protection for the C partion, which stops programs that isnt a part of Windows from changing information on the C: drive. It is usually best to install this kind of software (Steam etc) on another partion than C:.

If you do use the C: partion for Steam and its games, you can turn off the "User Account Control" (UAC) and see if DCG will work.

Correct version and my copy is retail not steam

Sep 10 2014 Anchor

Same thing goes for the retail version (regarding the C: partion - I mentioned Steam since the TS used Steam). Try to turn off UAC and see if that helps.

If it is possible, could you please post a copy of your log.txt (located in the campaign folder) AFTER you have tried to restart DCG again?

Finally, I have assumed that you are playing the MoW:AS version, and not the vanilla MoW version, is this correct (and please don´t tell me that you
are playing MoW:AS2 - if you are trying to get DCG work with this version, it won´t work).

yes mow as, and its not in c drive its in another HD, and as for the log do you mean the mow log or dcg log if dcg where can I find it?

Sep 11 2014 Anchor

The log.txt is located inside the campaign folder, which in turn should be located under your "Mods" folder inside your Men of War: Assault Squad folder.

There is no log file in the specified folder

I have searched for the log file to no avail, there isn't one

Hi, I have the same issue, even when running as Admin the campaign.exe stops working as shown in the image by Stuarts31. I have installed the game via Steam, have downloaded and extracted and ensured that the .exe file is run as admin. I have made no changes to any of the files. I am running on windows 8.1

Sep 27 2014 Anchor

And you did install the three necessary subfiles (XNA, NET and Visual #J)?

This tutorial should be all you need to get the mod up and running correctly ---> Moddb.com

Done everything in the tutorial to the letter, still not working

Oct 10 2014 Anchor

If you´ve Steam on your C: partion (or C: harddrive), test closing down the UAC (User Account Control). The C: partion is protected by default from having 3rd party software changing information on it and since DCG do try to write to your C: partion, it might cause the problem.

I´m running Win7 64-bit, (on my old PC I´d Vista and later Win7 32-bit), one in the team has Win8.1, and until recently, another one had XP, and all of us can run DCG correctly.

You did download the XNA 3.1 and installed it?

~Zeke.

Oct 15 2014 Anchor

Yes and i've tried disabling UAC already..........

Oct 15 2014 Anchor

Even stupidier question then - you aren´t trying to run DCG on MoW:AS2?

You must understand Zeke getting asked the same question twice is very irritating especially when your getting no where.

So it is very irritating to be asked the same question twice? If you logged in a bit more often than once per week, I would be able to help you a lot better, cause I do have a life outside these forums and I dont have the time to read thru the whole thread each time...

Did you read thru the tutorials we have published here on our moddb page? Did you watch the video tutorials on how to play and install DCG correctly?
Did you install the three necessary subprograms (.net, .xna and visual #J) including the older version of .net that is vital to get dcg to work correctly? All this is clearly described in the tutorials.
The reason for being annoying and asking you the same question twice is also due to the fact that a lot of the errors people has had when failing to install dcg correctly, is because they have either downloaded the wrong version of dcg, or trying to get dcg to work on as2...

So when you have done the above mentioned stuff, please report back.

~Zeke.

Oct 26 2014 Anchor

Yeah all subprograms are installed, did tutorials to the letter and ir is the corrext dcg and im using AS1 to no avail. And i also have a life outside these forums and I have other things to do everyday than watch this forum aswell

Well, the only reasons to why dcg reports the error "campaign has stopped working" is
A) failure to install necessary subprograms
B) the user has changed one or more of the xml files and made a typo.
C) the user hasnt set up the dcg settings correctly (which I dont think applies to you since campaign never even starts up correct, ie the dcg menu never shows up, the error you get isnt appearing when you click done after the pre-battle planning?)

The mod works for 1000's of other dcg users - so the error is somewhere on your side.
