Doom 3 Jedi FAQ:

Please visit the FORUMS to ask questions and make suggestions, we want to hear from Star Wars fans and people that are looking forward to a mod like this.

What is the Doom 3 Jedi mod?
See the CLASSES page for more info.

When will I be able to see screenshots of this mod?
When we have something to show. Keep checking the main page for updates and news.

When will this mod be ready to play?
We are still assembling the mod team right now so there has been no development other than design at this point. Some mods take up to six months or more before a playable version is released. We will know more once the team has been assembled and development begins.

Will this mod be multi player only?
The PRIMARY goal of this mod is multi player light saber combat with the high end graphics of the Doom 3 engine. If you want single player star wars action, I'm afraid you will have to wait for the next Lucasarts game.

Will I be able to choose my light saber color?
Yes, players will be able to choose from a selection of light saber colors.

Will there be stances like in Jedi Knight 2?
Initially, we do not plan to include things like stances. However, there will be several special saber moves that you can trigger during combat.

Will I be able to use a double ended light saber?
Our initial design is to have a single, two handed light saber.
However, if we have enough time, we would like to include multiple combat types:

  • A single, two handed light saber.

  • A double ended light saber.

  • And a dual wield mode where you hold two slightly smaller light sabers, one in each hand.

This type of development is very time consuming due to the coding and many animations that have to be made, not to mention balancing so that one isn't better than the other.

Can you tell me more about the force powers?
The main theme in Doom 3 Jedi is light saber combat. Force powers will be something that players use strategically since your force energy will not regenerate as fast as in other Jedi games. We will update the information on the CLASSES page as we progress through development.

Will I be able to pick up objects with force powers and throw them at enemies?
Since the Doom 3 SDK isn't even out yet its hard to answer this question. We definitely want to add this feature into Doom 3 Jedi if reasonable to do so. We will update this answer when we know more.

What time in the Star Wars universe will this mod be based on?
Doom 3 Jedi is set some unspecified time into the future.

Can I play Yoda?
Uh...no...
There will be several models to choose from both on the Jedi and Sith side. However, we want to create these models of our own design and not use any known Star Wars characters or famous Jedi. These characters will be Jedi that you haven't seen in the movies or heard about before. They will however be way cool. Check out the MEDIA section of the web site to see concept images of these characters.

This has been brought up before for mods concerning DragonBall Z etc.

If they claim that there's a Copyrighted problem then most likely they want the public not to know that somebody on their team decided that somone else was being a jerk and stormed off with all his work. LucasArts will not sue or jump on anyone for making a mod for any sort of game. If it's dead then consider the fact that somone was ****** off, and they are too lazy to carry on. Honestly I really did wish this was released, it's not every day you come across a Star Wars mod, let alone a jedi one. Lets just hope this mod gets updated or their site has been down.

Therse allot of talk about copyrights... well people have made Jedi mod's before, and LucasArts has been verry acceptive about it. And considering that the Jedi Knight triology was created on Id game engines, my guess is that they let it pass.

Don't let the power sublime you're might... ore some **** like that :D

I like all that im seeing so far. The thing's that I didn't like so mutch about Doom3 and Quake4 is that the graphics are so... dirty and almost nausiating. The look and feel of you're maps are almost perfection.
Also, a litle idea. Add allitle theatrics to the dead-simulations. Like in FEAR, where the bodies take a backflip when they get killed. Not ower do it, but yust enouf to make it satifying... ;)
And add "stay bodies" if you can... it makes it more dramatic. Cant wat to see Tatoine :D

Good luck and may the force be whit you... :P

Yeah, the engine is very suitable for the sort of graphics you want to produce. However, I don't think Lucasarts are going to like your use of the saber wielding force-enhanced ones very much...

Why would Raven care? Raven also produce Quake IV you know... ;)
