Galu set DaC V2.2 to release at a specific time but for some reason ModDB released it early which means we'll all have to wait for Galu to record and upload the change-log video and whatever other video he planned to record for the V2.2 release.

In addition to that, Galu and I live in different time zones so I was asleep when V2.2 launched here so that's why I didn't post the official change-log link but thank you The_Great_Diceiver for doing that yourself.

Again, to those of you interested in the DaC V2.2 Change-log:

Hello, I've encountered a bug in 2.1 that is still present in 2.2. When playing as Gondor, fighting a battle in East Osgiliath causes the game to crash. However when I'm Mordor it plays fine.

Have forost and gobedrain been fixed and added to the northern Dunedain recruitment like the description says they are? People have complaining about it since 1.2 and it makes the region useless.

Fornost Erain and Gobedrain have Norhtern Dunedain recruitment. They've had it since V2.0.

No I'm ment furost can't spell it the rebel city by the water next to the dwarves between them and angmar it says you get Dunedain units but don't that city and gobedrain village only gave me milita in patch 2.01.

Those settlements allow the Northern Dunedain to recruit their units there. Maybe you didn't build all the buildings or wait for the culture to get to the required amount?

Ok just took gobedrain on 2.02 and still you can't make a Dunedain encampment which is a serious nerf cause it's full of Dunedain culture but no Dunedain. Please play the Dunedain for yourself and you will see you can't recruit Dunedain at gobedrain or furost.

If I have 2.1 with the total war sub mod and I upgrade to 2.2 will it break anything or deactivate the total war submod?

Reply Good karma Bad karma0 votes
TheEliteDwarf Creator
TheEliteDwarf - - 2,451 comments

Yes, installing DaC V2.2 will wipe away the V2.1 Total War sub-mod.

That said, the Total War sub-mod and other official sub-mods from the DaC team will not be updated for V2.2 until a week or two from now because Arachir is busy so if you do get V2.2, you'll have to play vanilla without the sub-mods.

Do not try to use the V2.1 sub-mods for V2.2.

Hi, I'm turn 75 with Mordor (v2.2) and I still don't have access to invasion, the menu shows "Sauron is currently not present.". In my previous game (2.1) I already had access to it turn 40-ish. Is that normal ?

Galu said that invasions are delayed I think to turn 100. Watch his V2.2 change-log video. I linked it on the main DaC ModDB page.

Hi, I've noticed that whenever Mordor beseiges and attacks a settlement, if they have war beasts they won't try to break the gates. They will just move their war beast to skirmisg you and then won't do anything else.

Some custom settlement battlemaps work. It depends how those settlements were set up on the campaign map. You will just have to try each tier of settlement and see what you get.

Try deleting the map.rwm file.

It's in the Medieval 2 Total War/mods/<MOD FOLDER NAME>/data/world/maps/base folder. This map.rwm gets recreated so after you delete it, it will re-appear but that's ok because I think your current map.rwm might be corrupted so the new one that gets created will be alright.

There is no map.rwm file in the folder. (But now the v2.1 works after deleting this file (this version crashs if I want to start a campaign or battle - but now fixed - thank you but it would be better if I could play in 2.2. Maybe you have an idea :) )

Watch the installation video for V2.2. Everything you need to do is in the installation video.

Read my installation guide (which you can find in the tutorials tab of this site) and in there I explain what you need to do (I also link to the installation videos).

If you still have issues, then I don't know what the cause is since the installation videos literally show every step so if you do everything in the installation videos and still have problems, then it's your computer and I won't be able to help further.

Good luck.

I just got a question are you able to play hot seat on this mod, me and my friends are big fans of lord of the rings and the total war games so we thought it was a good combination and i wanted to play this mod with them because it awesome ofcourse :D. But when we play hot seat we get a battle to pop up that is not our faction but AI's faction and then you can't do anything about it. So i wonder is there a way to change in some texts, in TATW log with hot seat settings or is it just impossible to play hot seat in this mod?

Hotseating isn't officially supported by us however there is a guide on how to set it up which requires making some edits.

So, here's the link but I won't be able to troubleshoot/help with hotseating: Twcenter.net!

Instructions are a bit unclear...

1) Once you have found the 'Third_Age_3' folder, please DO NOT click on the data folder. 2) The correct ending of the installation location is as follows: ...........Third_Age_3\data

okay... but then all the /data files are installed into the root third age folder. Later the instructions read for Non steam (Disc Users)...

2) Once located, simply click on the 'Third_Age_3' folder and click ok.

The /data folder installation did not work. Game just crashed when starting campaign.

So should it be in the data folder or not?

Reply Good karma Bad karma0 votes
TheEliteDwarf Creator
TheEliteDwarf - - 2,451 comments

The installer adds "/data" at the end of the installation path from what I remember so if you were to click Third Age 3/data then your path would be "Third Age 3/data/data" which would be wrong.

Just make sure the path says "Third Age 3/data".

I suggest watching the installation video as that covers every aspect you need to know but my written guide is mainly for highlighting the important parts that people get stuck on or have issues with.

I have the disc version so should I just drop this in C:\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War? Thats where I put TATW

I would suggest installing Medieval 2 outside of that Program Files folder and then install (or transfer) TATW and DaC into the new installation.

The Program Files folder has extra security on it which can affect the installation process and potentially block files during installation or affecting the game while it's running.

Did you apply the LAA patch?

Also, try deleting the map.rwm file (don't worry, it will regenerate when you start the campaign). That file is associated with the campaign map's data and sometimes that file can get corrupted so just deleting it will refresh it when you start a new campaign (you then do NOT want to delete it after you've started fully-working campaigns).

The file is located in Medieval 2 Total War/mods/Third Age 3/data/world/maps/base.

Please watch the official installation video:

It should start at 7:46, if it doesn't, skip to that time. Not long after that timestamp Galu will start talking about the LAA patch and how to apply it.

Hello, everyone. I know, that almost everyone had "encountered an unspecified error". My problem with 2.2 version is frequent crashes. Ive just played 5-6 turns and game crashes. I went to the log file and that what i see: 19:31:26.566 [script.err] [error] Script Error in mods/Third_Age_3/data/export_descr_buildings.txt, at line 16251, column 33
Building DB error - culture db max settlement level differs from building db max settlement level for faction scripts (bdg large_city vs clt huge_city)

This one is the first in the big list of errors. Btw ive played 82 turns and every 5-6-7 turns game crashes. I re-installed game twice. I delete all downloads(TATW, DAC, Medieval) and downloaded them again with all proper instructions(doing nothing while downloading and installing). But when i want to continue my campaign - i've come to the same problem.

Did you apply the LAA patch? It raises the game's default RAM usage limit from 2GB to 4GB and stops those kinds of crashes and essentially all others.

Please watch this video: Youtu.be

It should start at 7:45, if it doesn't, skip to that part. From that time, the mod leader, Arachir, explains the LAA patch and how to apply it. We have bundled it in with the V2.1 installation so you already have it.
