Team Raptor would like to present a mod that has been in the works for a little while, Dino-Instinct, now a Half-Life 2 mod in production, was once going to be a mod for Half-Life "Classic". After going through an alpha and many members later Dino-Instinct moved on and decided to clean the slate and work anew with the Half-Life 2 engine. Dino-Instinct is a multiplayer HL2 mod where dinosaurs will fight to the death. (We may add game modes with humans at a later date) Players will be able to gain experience and level up to acquire new abilities...

This looks like an excellent model! I'd only do something with the talon on the foot that sticks out weirdly.

if you mean the killing claw, it's at an angle inwards so perhaps it just looks weird?

There is no proof that Utahraptor ever had feathers. Yes, some of the much smaller ones did, but I have yet to see proof the big ones did.

Also, Utahraptor was an ancestor of Velocirpator and I like to believe that feathers were also a later adaptation of the Dromaeosauridae form.

Plus feathers on a 6-8 foot tall raptor are just not very threatening looking....

We had a discussion about this. We all agree that feathers look retarded. This probably has something to do with all of us growing up watching Jurassic Park.

Someday, if we get a modeler who feels differently, they can make a new version, at which point it could be added as an option in the settings:

[x]use kickass raptor models
[ ]use retarded raptor models

Changing this setting would, in that case, change all raptors to have the retarded skin for the player who wants them to look that way. However, the default setting is and always will be the kickass version depicted in the above render.

Its all about creativity guys, we will never know what dinosaurs actually looked like, we can only guess. I hate when people get all, ''Dino Nazi'' on how others portray dinosaurs, ''IT DIDNT SPIT TAR, ACID, IT DOESNT HAVE FRILS THAT RETRACT, BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLA-'' ''SHUT THE **** UP''. Honestly guys, this model is amazing, and feathers on SOME dinosaurs look cool, not every dinosaur thou.

Besides, I'm making a mod with dinosaurs in it too, do you think I care if they actually had feathers or not? NO, my modelers will design em' however they want.

Nice work on the UTAHRAPTOR!!!
