Facing impossible odds, a team of survivors are cornered against the unstoppable poltergeist horde! Defend yourself as they spawn terrifying monsters, possess players, and wreak havoc in their quest to destroy every survivor! Spot out the demon's shadow to uncover where they're hiding, but make sure you find a flash light, or you'll be trapped in the dark! Team work is essential if you want to survive. Stick together, share ammo, and destroy the poltergeist horde in Demons Vs Humans!
The demon in the video above is toying with the player, he knows he can't be flanked and quickly pins the player down. The demon is seen to set fire to objects, manipulate them in different ways with the ghost gun, a new weapon which can move objects in more of a ghostly/poltergeist way.
We have our first map produced as seen in the video, really needs to be seen in game to appreciate the detail and fine work put into it by the mapper :)
Lots of refinements have been made to the human teams weapons, there is now a really agile rocket launcher and rocket Cam mode, to remote control launched rockets around corners and through building. During play tests we had several players fire rockets flying around the map chasing each other through vents, car windows and through other small gaps.
Demons can spawn headcrabs (we call them petcrabs) with much greater ease with the left mouse button and right click to directly control their petcrab (possession footage seen in previous news), demons get one petcrab at a time they can save it by teleporting it back to themselfs. Still working on getting them to level up to an antlion sized creature. The testers have worked out a jumping method to make the headcrabs fly, don't have the heart to take away any fun, just got to work it in somehow. I can always shoot them down with a rocket.
New models for players, weapons and headcrabs desperately needed, it will be summer soon so hopefully lots of spare time for any modellers that want to join or donate models.
Since 2002 we have explored, played and enjoyed mods of all shapes and sizes just like Demons Vs Humans. We love games like Half-Life 2 that have opened themselves up to modding. Because of communities like Workshop, Nexus, Curse, RTSL, GameBanana and Mod DB, more games support modding today than ever before.
Let's celebrate modding
As mods play a bigger role in the future of gaming, we believe it is important to recognize the effort the teams behind the work put in, giving us countless hours of enjoyment while asking nothing in return. We have the power to change our games and that needs to be celebrated to ensure it remains a big part of PC gaming's future.
It all started
In 2015, when the paid modding dispute left many gamers and modders worried about the direction the industry is headed. Things have since settled down, but we believe it is important to continue this small tradition to show we are not alone in our love for mods, and the open platforms that embrace them.
Mod Appreciation Week
Nothing is more motivating than knowing something you've built is being enjoyed by others. So this week if there is a mod you love on Mod DB (or anywhere else), make the effort to shout out to them, mention and link their mod in a tweet, blog, forum or facebook post with the hashtag #modlove2016 (or click the icons above for a pre-built post).
