Defense Command is a cross between a 3rd person shooter and a real time strategy game. The player controls a single unit throughout the game which is comprised of a number of soldiers and/or vehicles. The whole squad could be a single tank or a dozen fierce warriors. The camera is situated above and behind your unit and is angled down slightly to provide a better view of the players troops. Control is similar to many third person shooters with the main difference being that the Y axis of the mouse does not tilt the camera but instead moves a cursor across the ground so the player can target the enemy unit he wishes. There are also strategic elements to the play. As the battle progresses a team will gain Tech Points. As soon as your team reaches certain numbers they gain access to upgrades and can assign special characters to their units.
