UAN Scorcher
This is the UAN’s most basic tank. It differs from most main battle tanks in that it has a unique weapon system. It is equipped with a modified tank cannon that fires burning, balls of sulphur at it's enemies. These fireballs are far more effective vs. infantry and also do increased damage to structures. The main downside of these fireballs is that they are largely ineffective vs. tank armour. For this reason the UAN have made it possible to garrison an infantry soldier inside to aid the tank in battle. This allows them, for an extra cost, to transport their infantry quickly around the battlefield in complete safety, while still allowing the infantry to fire out. They remain safe unless the fuel tank on the back of the scorcher was ruptured by say a tank shell, instantly frying the doomed infantry inside the remains of the tank. Rumours of the Scorcher having a secondary ability are at the present time, unfounded.
USA Arbiter
As combat technology grew more and more advanced, the US army saw a great need to keep themselves up to date with the most lethal weaponry. Although the Crusader had performed well in the conflict which led to the destruction of the GLA, recently the generals had started criticising its slow rate of fire and light armour. They argued that however well it had performed, the war that was coming would bring with in enemies with a far more advanced arsenal than that of the GLA rebels. They stressed the need for heavier armour and greater damage, at the expense of speed and size. They said they didn't care what the cost, they wanted something better.
After many months of testing with experimental prototypes, a final version was unveiled at a secret military location. Field tests on the prototypes concluded that although the tank moved slowly, in combat it was unmatched, defeating WEA and UAN opposition without getting so much as scratched. Most of the Arbiters success was attributed to the revolutionary new turret design. This new turret is able to pump out 4 shells in rapid succession, pausing only to cool the barrel of the tank before more shots are fired. It's a good thing that the US government didn't care about the cost of these tanks as although the new design is effective in combat, the new technology does come at rather a high price.
WEA Taurus
Many failings in recent conflicts have caused the WEA commanders to need to evaluate the performance of their leopard tank. For a long time the Leopard was the best tank the WEA possessed but it was rapidly becoming outdated. They concluded that the tank was not advanced enough to face the dual threat of USA and UAN invasion. The commanders contracted a weapons firm to design them a compact yet powerful tank to replace the Leopard. The contract between the WEA and the weapons firm meant the new tanks could be purchased at a much lower cost, meaning more could be fielded. This was handy as although the tank was a great improvement on the Leopard, it still was not up to the standard of the, currently experimental, USA Arbiter tanks.
The Taurus rapidly became the backbone of most WEA attacks. Boasting above average armour; powerful engines and a damaging single bore cannon the Taurus can hold its own against most foes in battle.
UAN Behemoth (Uber Unit)
UAN commanders, seeing what WEA and USA were developing, began work on their newest piece, the Behemoth. Not much is known about this mysterious unit at the present time, other than a brief sighting by a veteran WEA solider serving in western Asia.
The survivors of the WEA’s west Asian detachment witnessed this machine first hand, assisting on the obliteration of their temporary outpost. The old solider has this to say “We were keeping watch on the mountain pass in shifts, monitoring UAN armour movement and reporting it back to base via radio. At about 1:00 AM we saw something BIG moving forward through the darkness. We thought it was searching for something. We realised that something turned out to be us when 100 kilowatt headlights blazed into life flooding our makeshift watchtower with light…
I was half blinded by the intense light but I thought I saw other vehicles appearing as if by magic next to the main vehicle. Before I could wonder what I was seeing, the machine did something...
Seconds later, missiles seemed to appear from the shadow of the vehicle and our watch tower toppled. I was pitched out of the tower impacting with the rocky ground, instantly losing consciousness. When I came to the rest of my detachment was dead, I radioed for help and a passing MRC picked me up and took me back to base. Whatever that thing was I doubt we've seen the last of it.”
We hope you've enjoyed our update.
