Description

German high-tier armor for non-melee (missile) troops. Well-equipped German X-bowmen were almost as heavily armored as knights, since they traditionally fought minus the tall pavises their Italian counterparts preferred. Their full plate harness was made affordable by excluding the expensive parts: the cote of mail, a fitted fauld and fitted sabatons. These were replaced with cheaper alternatives.

Seen here: a slightly older (but perfectly serviceable) basinet with aventail, a single-piece breast+back, plate arms, plate legs, crude sabatons. The aventail for the helmet and the fauld for the cuirass are of scale. The scales are gilded with copper, as is also the aventail liner. The cuirass sits over an arming cote with mail gussets.
