DangerZone mod for Half-Life 2

There are two teams, and each team has a base (nothing new). Players spawn from a device called a manipulator, this is a rather big device which simply drops players into the playing area. The idea of the game is to destroy the other team’s manipulator. This is done by shutting it down, by turning off each power supply (3 in total), this deactivates the shields, and then it can be destroyed.

There is another device which will come in very useful, this is known as a dispenser. A dispenser releases various walls, it can also dispense sentry guns, booby traps and various gadgetry. But those come at a cost and I’ll come to that in a minute.

Players can choose between 2 types of soldier, offensive and defensive. Offensive soldiers tend to be lighter, quicker but have less armour than defensive.

Players will have xp meter, when your xp meter reaches maximum, you level up. Your xp is based on your performance, kills, deaths, hit ratio, tasks carried out etc etc. The player with the most xp is the teams commander, the commander can budget the teams xp on a whole. The next two highest experienced players are the officers, they can buy sentry guns and gadgetry for the team to use. But the commander has most control, as he can do that, and he can also de-rank an officer. If a certain player is being a pain, he can choose for that player not to be an officer. If the commander is being a pain, the players can vote for him to be de-ranked.

This is where i come back to the dispenser, with the gadgets coming at a cost. For every enemy you kill, every wall you destroy, every task you carry out, your team gains money. This money can be spent on the gadgets.

Also, players can use their xp to trade for items. Such as drugs, which make your aim steadier, or make you run that touch faster. But of course drugs are bad for society, you'll lose xp, which could mean losing your rank .
