From the minds of HP Lovecraft and Robert W Chambers, a nightmare in 11 chapters. It is 1928 and Ranulf Stafford believed that he had saved the world from the horror of Cthulhu and The Great Old Ones. But the horror had not yet even begun...
As we continue to work towards a release, I thought I would upload some screenshots of the menu background maps. I have tried to go for a minimalist approach to the background maps (which also keeps load times short), indicating the mood and subject of each chapter.
I am not 100% happy with the chapter 2 background map, so that may get reworked at some point.
Oh, and I know that a couple of the screenshots don't show the menu! Don't worry - it will in-game.
This is the chapter 2 background map (which isn't clear from the description). This one could be better, I think...
I don't know what to say so I'll just blurt it out: this is an insult to both HL2 engine and visual design.
It needs:
-a better angle for the camera so you can see the the background and the whole setting properly. Now it looks like you are trying to cut corners by looking at ground so you don't have to make anything.
-a good sky and put some trees as silhouette against it
-some BSP hills and forests with textures or models.
-more detail such as more sophisticated terrain forms
-vegetation in the front and I mean 3D plants, not textures.
-more elaborate bridge
An insult? Bit extreme there, chap.
