Modern Combat transports players into the midst of a high-tech war between the current-day Chinese and U.S. militaries. Incorporating all-new factions, units, doctrines, gamemodes, artwork, music, maps, and singleplayer missions, we aim to craft the most immersive and enjoyable strategic representation of 21st-century combat possible on the PC.
this makes me think of homefront for some reason.
Yet this is set in a US invasion of China, not invasion of USA.
He only said that because the map looks like one of the singleplayer missions (Recall the time when the guys left the city and stole the helicopter at that rogue base)
yeah hes remembering the farm house you run through and fall out from, which is the center-piece of the main screen shot. on a side note, like the look of the map. also like the fact that you made a bottle neck in the middle with natural elements. imagine i will spend awhile figuring the best way to make good use of it (im thinking camo ability's will have great effect here, as i will know the direction there tanks are coming from). of-course the best and most easy area to defend (provided you have good infantry and arty ability's) will likely be the bottom left of the map.
The water in the south-west corner is traversable though. :P
The water is passable everywhere, except the tiny little bit in the top right part, to the right of the VP map. So vehicles and infantry can cross, but there is cover in the river in the form of rocks, tree's, bushes little islands with bushes and tree's, boats etc. The Assymetric warfare doctrine is ideal for this map (and so is the U.S. CQB doctrine), but the pine tree's aren't an obstacle to vehicles so it's a very open map with barely any bottlenecks, and with plenty of room for flanking.
Where in China is this supposed to be set, because it doesn't look very familiar (especially the housing style plus wharf thing)? because I myself live in China right now, Along the Eastern coast; Cities, towns and villages.
I didn´t base it upon anything specific, just by how I envisioned a pine forest in China. =)
haha well, if you need any help making it look like a real location in china I can help a lot, willing to make levels/maps too. Housing in china especially in villages are never like that... it's too western, they live tightly in a traditional courtyard style community housing Depts.washington.edu especially in the country side(PS. China's pine forests are mainly in the North West; in Xin Jiang province, He Bei and along the Mongolian border. They often range in yellow green to Orange for a lot of the year and green patches are always pretty tight together [which would offer a lot of infantry cover] for some photo reference if you ever want to do it: Images.travelpod.com for green

and some extra forest diversities in china Travel-china.net
Yeah I´ve seen some of these photo´s before. Problem is that we have limited resources when it comes to adding new tree´s and other environmental objects.
need any help with that?
Well if you have 3d or 2d skills you're more than welcome in providing more environmental assets. =)

cool, I might just do that
