Maybe the sniper could be the JNG-90. It's a Turkish sniper rifle, thus used in the Middle East. If the MEC stands for Middle East Coalition, then it is logical to assume Turkey is part of the MEC.
My own vision of MEC is based on an alliance between Iran and Iraq (which isn't unlikely with Iraq's new government). They manage to annex Kuwait during the Sino-American war, and NATO finally gets involved when the MEC invade the UAE for its resources. Internal pressures eventually cause Syria and Oman to be accepted into the new state, giving MEC a full capability to invade Israel- The US is able to just barely support it's allies, using whats left of Israel and the Emirates as staging grounds for the war.
Meanwhile China is concerned about the rapidly growing power of the MEC...
Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Turkey manage to remain neutral.
Looks really nice
MEC always needed some love :D

Yea, that could be a possibility.
