Eastern Front is a free mod for Company of Heroes. Following the ethos of mimicking a Relic Entertainment expansion pack, Eastern Front has succeeded in adding two full new factions, the Soviet Red Army and the German Ostheer, packed with unique and exciting units to the existing armies - a feat never before achieved in the Company of Heroes world.

Now, this mod isn't without its flaws. But then again, there are fully fledged, multi-million dollar games with far more flaws.
When seeking to expand upon the base game of Company of Heroes, there are a variety of total change mods that drastically alter the gameplay and turn the experience into something completely new - the ultra high speed modern battlefields of Modern Combat and the hellish, uber-realistic slog of Blitzkrieg come to mind.
But it's important not to lose sight of the masterpiece that is vanilla Company of Heroes - the sheer fun and competitiveness. And this mod does a fantastic job of keeping that in sight.
The addition of two fully fledged, totally unique factions to the base game is quite an achievement. I wasn't even sure it was possible to alter the UI enough to be able to select an additional Axis and Allied faction, but I guess anything is possible.
The new factions are satisfying, unique, and balanced - perhaps with slight Soviet bias, but that would be understandable. I actually enjoyed the Ostheer the most - the Elite Troops doctrine allows for some particularly rewarding Tiger spam. Yeah, Tiger spam. Unit caps are for sissies.
This mod also adds some fantastic new features to the base game. Unlimited Popcap mode is a no-brainer, and the new reward units really help. With the Comet tank, allies finally have a proper response to the likes of the Panther. The 105mm Sherman is perfect for dealing with nasty Panzer Elite blobs. The Jagdtiger is self explanatory (Think a Jagdpanther crossed with a King Tiger and mixed with a pinch of nightmares) - so are, um, Snowman Grenadiers (Just Grenadiers and nightmares).
Definitely the best CoH mod of all time, and certainly one of the best mods on ModDB. Hopefully it will shake the current phase of dormancy it seems to be going through, and the planned additions will come to fruition.
