I've started this project a very long time ago, alongside Christian S. Zoric (CED2011). We planned to work on remaking the whole original DOOM under this engine, in a similar way Classic Doom 3 mod did. At some point in the past we've also had a team and some private forums, but all went down slowly.

We decided to start out with E2: The Shores of Hell since E1: Knee-Deep in The Dead is already done by other team. The mod was considered dead for some time, but now I'm trying to revive it, gather a new team and finish it.

Not much progress is done at this point. In the mapping part, there are only a couple of maps done and a few WIP (from Episode 2). As for the monster models, all the monster models besides the Zombieman, Cyberdemon and Spider Mastermind are done. With 3 of them fully animated. As for the weapons, the Pistol and The Shotgun are done and roughly implemented in the game. But I have plans to have them remade because just it doesn't seem right to use a classic 2000s Beretta and Remington in a future game. They are still planned to have that classic look.

As the description tells, it aims to re-create the whole original DOOM like it was being made with today's technology. The story, levels, monsters and weapons to be remade adding a more realistic touch, but the gameplay mechanics to be similar to the old DOOM.

The name Codename: DOOM comes from from DOOM 64's manual: "The military episodes code named "DOOM" were not actually completed."

i would love to just have the reskined npcs. nothing against the work and progress this mod has done, i just really like the models i would think it would be cool to play em in normal doom 3

The work, love and effort put into this already is bloody fantastic - I really love the idea of Doom 1 being recreated with an aesthetic similar to Doom 3's; Classic Doom 3 was great but this looks even better. I really hope you found a team and are plugging at the project. In things like this, it really is best to take your time especially since someone like me would love to have the whole mod in one package rather than incremental releases :) Hell I'm one of those people who's been waiting patiently for Phobos to release so I'm definitely sticking around for this!

do you know why people start with episode 1? it's the shareware game thus free meaning you can do it without C.a.D coming down on you. the last 3 episodes were paid for.

Do you think you could combine your work with the guys at Doom Reborn?
They already did the classic Doom 1 & 2 levels 1:1, so why not combine your stuff with their levels and go full out awesome?

Don't really think. As you said Doom Rebron it's an 1:1 recreation. Same design from original DOOM. While this version tries to bring realistic visuals to the levels. Similar to Classic Doom 3 mod. Tho I would like to collaborate with them.

It´s looks very good!. Is there a posibility you can add gloves to the hands? and If it´s possible to add more weapons? (assault rifles, pistols etc). I know the original DOOM don´t have those kind of weapons, just asking if you have plans to do it. Regards!. I´m going to play DOOM 3 again when your MOD it´s ready!

Yes. The hand models will be replaced at some point. I was thinking about the Zombiemen's Rifle, The Rifle from Doom Alpha and maybe a Flamethrower. But the mod is faaar from done.

At this moment most of the content you (will) see for some time it's basically just old stuff, being finally implemented in-game/playable.

I'm trying to gather a small team to work properly on the mod to get it done.

OK that's cool: Going for a Classic Doom 3 route.
I did love how they managed to get the Doom E1 levels to work with the style of D00M 3 whilst still being similar to the originals.
If you're going to do that like you say, then this will be a good one.

[Personal request] Do you think you could try and make the labyrinth segment (after the blue door I.ytimg.com) from E1M4 look something like a pipes/ventilation system? By the way. It will be great if you add the "helmet view" / "HUD helmet veiw" in the game... that will be really amazing!
