It has being some time since last update....so...
Alien Light tan
Armed with a 115mm Anti-vehicle gun and a 12mm anti-infantry "coax-plasma-gun"
Plus, can be upgraded with a Anti-missile\Anti-Aircraft laser turret

Alien? Way too human looking. And here I was expecting hover tanks with dark matter lasers.
and maybe a couple of nuclear reactors to power it up?
hover? you mean, with something like jet engines? do you have any idea of how much power would something like that consume? without mentioning a "dark matter laser" ....
Forget about TV aliens....I'm getting for some realism here(at least, what I consider to be realistic)
If aliens have developed the technology to reach us, they would have been able to solve their energy crisis...
Hover tech aside, I think you should ditch the whole concept. If an alien race millions of light-years away develops a vehicle that looks like a souped-up ZTZ, it raises some questions... lol, good work nonetheless
They could just have used the energy of a start or forced fusion at a gas-giant to generate and gather the energy to power a warp-drive and get here, instead of having a small all-mighty power source....
They'll really exceed in material composition, though yet lighter materials such as the ones we (try) to develop, more efficient engines, more powerful weapons(Energy based, kinetic based, or just the good old fashion badass explosives)....
I hate shiny-bright-full-of-small-annoying-lights-aliens from movies, I'm trying to create something different here, something more...I don't know...more "simple"
the fact that they could do that means that they are way advance...
and why would they use crude (in terms of alien tech) or earth-like weapons?...
hover tech is good to portray an alien faction...
IMO, realistic aliens are something like that from Battleship, or the ones from Battle: LA...
that's my opinion though...

Maybe you can look at the old Series "Space Above and Beyond"
That was more or less a "realistic" take on an Alien War, though its an interstellar war, there are also many ground battle scenes, including atleast one Alien Tank. Maybe the design of them can inspire you a little thinh.

An alien species with interstellar capabilities would possess technologies far beyond our own, many of which wouldn't make sense to humanity's current scientific understanding. Hover tech is the way to go. Treads might not work on some planetary conditions, but hover tech would.
Aliens don't have to be that much badass, "they can do this' "they could do that" "they would use this" "they would use that" why? and how the heck could you possibly know what the heck would they use?!
The fact is, they could just accidently found a way to create a viable FTL drive...Their planet could be dying and they needed desperately a way out of there, they might not even have FTL drive and were traveling at near-light speed with the crew on stasis....
@Rikuo, Battleship aliens aren't that realistic in the point which they don't have any kind of CIWS nor even a basic anti-air defensive system :P
and the light of the sun is their weakness....dammit, buy some goddamn sunglasses
pretty good movie though, the ones from Battle:LA were a bit "inefficient" if you observe how a few of their weapons work and how much energy they spent with jet-engines on everything....
one more thing, if I gave them a "death laser armed hover-tank" I would not call it "Light tank" I would have called it "Death laser armed hover-tank" xD

what i meant by that is their technology...
as for the B:LA, the alien infantries could be a basis for your alien faction's grunts...
if they were able to harness FTL tech, it means that they are indeed waaaaaaay advance and hover tech for them might be an equivalent of our tank treads...
still, these are all suggestions...
it is up to you to design your own faction...

Why shouldn't use Aliens, something like that?
A particle cannon as gun. Which acts like the RAIL gun of
CNC 3(mammoth tanks). They could even use Plasma weaponry(because we already use that in science).
Additonally, why not hover? They could make their tanks pretty much lighter than ours by using shields and high tech armour.
So Hover tanks realistic... with Laser or even Plasma rail gun...

yeah, we have particle accelerators, they usually have the size of a building....
Plasma and laser can be deflected, "rail-guns"(projectiles electromagnetically accelerated) consume a lot of energy(but, that wouldn't really be a problem)....But its probably what they'll use as weapons for MGS\Tanks...
This is a basic tank, as I've said, I might include hover-stuff for more advanced units....
Stick to your vision, its your mod, thats the most important I think.
