This is a full conversion Tolkien mod for Crusader Kings 2 which will feature bookmarks throughout the Third Age. This mod is being developed independently from any other LotR or Middle Earth mods out there. The map will cover the main areas of Middle Earth, known in the books and films. I'm a huge fan of the dwarves and of the mod, then, i crated this thread for myself and other fans of them can discuss about ideas and post suggestions for this race.

One of my suggestions is a "special building" for Khazad-dûm (Moria), similar to Erebor. Here is a sketch that i made copying the script of Erebor special building and adding tax income bonus (because is the only place where you can mine mithril).

The building is exactly the same as Erebor, i just renamed to Khazad-dûm and add the tax income bonus, i also was thinking in a combat bonus (mithril armour and weapons), but that i dont know how to do. Here you can zoom: Moddb.com.

As others, I love playing dwarves... building, crafting... this adds a lot to the game ! Here are some suggestions :

  • As in LOTR, dwarves are only interested in building in mountains, there could be a real interest in staying in mountains even if in CK2 we can still conquer the rest of the map. For exemple, dwarven mines could be limited to hills or montains (basic mines accessible to all terrains, upgrade1 to hills and mountains, upgrade2 to mountains only - I do not know if it can be scripted ot not-)
  • Khazad-dûm was not build in one time : the main building with major bonuses could be split in several upgrades ( Kazad-dum I, then II...). Same fot Erebor. Minor versions could be available for other darwen realms
  • To keep dwarves busy in mountains, there could have more mountains to colonize (wilderness ?). Maybe accessible only after an event ?
  • More buildings ? Of course that could be unbalancing (dwarves are already powerfull).
  • Any advantage/ additionnal building diven to dwarves could be available in mountains only.
  • A special Casus Beli for dwarves ? conquest of mountain terrain (probably too unbalancing, that's only an idea)

- That's planned, we're working on the mountains thing actually. I hope you'll have some fun with the next work!
- You're right, several levels for the mines could be interesting. I put this on our to-do list.
- We planned to add some more mountains provinces, but there won't be 100 ;)
- Yeah, buildings for all the cultures needs to be improved. We don't have the time to make them now, if someone wants to help us with that :)
- True. And it'll be done. ^^
- They've got already one, they're able to settle in the mountains, where other races couldn't (well, orcs and goblins could too).

I could give a hand for the buildings, I really like what you are doing. By the way I did some modding on the previous version so I could build more buildings with dwarves (and others).I have trouble with scripting though so I will have to keep it easy on conditions

About the dwarvish union, maybe you could edit and use the cardinal system. The dwarves could have a "head of religion" that instead is the most influential ruler of the dwarves elected by the dwarven kings, which would be able to call great wars, like the War of the Dwarves and Orcs. I don't know how moddable this is, but the idea would be change the college of cardinals to a The Council of Kings. The factors to be elected would be traits (brave, dwarf ring, arkenstone, etc), prestige, titles, among others.

I didn't quite understood your question. My idea is for the dwarves, but i don't see any problems if this is implemented in other races, like the elves.
