You are a survivor of the City 17 Uprising. While the situation there is being brought back under Combine control, you are relocated to the far-away City 27. You are informed that you are a slave to the city, and that your life has no significance. But an unknown benefactor sees potential in you, and you are hand picked to serve a higher purpose. You are chosen to investigate a part of City 27 known as "Precinct: 04". This area of the city has been abandoned and cut off from the rest of City 27 for over three years. Discover City 27's dark secret, and begin the revolution that could cripple the Combine's grip on Earth.

By non-mapper's eye it looks like doors that were supposed to lead into the building lead somewhere else. What about a combine wall and half-opened door barred with something?
