L4D uses a model that animates, this one borrows a L4D ssbump, though it's been modified and a bit more detailed.

Oddly thats exactly how even HL2 and EP1 tiles look. We could concentrate on having loads of broken tiles everywhere, and long load times, or just a very long level, thats still evenly detailed with whichever area should and will look heavily broken.

These areas will have art passes eventually, and even some animated stuff along the way.

I remember a similar tunnel one of the hl2 episodes and I really think that the ceiling needs a new texture. In an underground tunnel a tiled ceiling doesn't really make any sense, not to mention it looks weird with it broken but all the tiles intact.

Strangely it's like that even in real life, but we'll add some more detail to it.

I like the composition... but the geometry seems a bit bland.
If you dont want to detail it further.. what about darkening it?.. to hide the simplicity.

If nothing else, darken the tile texture. It looks awful. Also, where the fire is burning, the ceiling is clean... way off. I don't know if theres a decal for that type of situation, but it needs one :p

Otherwise this looks awesome, your outdoing Valve at their own game.
