Theoretically speaking, it's actually possible in generals ZH. Well that is if it'll just have a field that pulls stuf towards it like the magnet in Supcom 2, or if it just pushes stuf away from it's position.
Just a little advice to the modders though... my theory of getting this to work would probably break the fan trucks logic with letting stuf fly off.
Actually, i got this magnetic idea to work, by placing the
invisible "bone" into the tip of the range, and facing it towards into the magnet so that when it "attacks" a target, it will make an illusion of a magnet working on the SAGE engine.
The projectile of this unit in the code, is almost the same as the projectile of a fan truck, but it has an ability to disable any electronic based tanks, truck, etc.
The locomotion of this projectile in the code is completely different from fan truck's projectile.
the projectile of this Magvee, is designed not to turn sideways, meaning it will just go staight into the magnet, creating a realistic magnet effect.
The imaginary turret of this unit turns around very fast, fast as the speed of light, so that the target cant escape from the attack radius of this unit, making it more realstic.
There is also a "Bone" at the center of the magnet, designed to push away the target a little bit, so that the unit will not fly away from the magnet, and it will make it Much more realistic.
btw, are you aware that a negative push force pulls stuf to the ground rather than towards it? could be usefull to keep stuff on the ground while pulling ;)
i tried to use a negative number on the code before, it didn't work, so i was thinking a new way to do a magnet effect, so i came up with that trick, an illusion of a magnet in sage engine.
Magnet Humvee says:
"Im attractive"
******' MAGVEES HOW DO THEY WORK?!

interesting, never thought of that tactic :)
