Niklas Leon is on the way to marry his fiancee Helene - a daughter of a rich bavarian count Gottfried von Wackersberg. He's about the find out that the true darkness lies within our hearts.
Available as a total conversion as well as a standard custom story. Choose what suits you. The custom story version is limited (no custom lantern with short light range, no custom sanity effects, small default font etc.) but should provide more or less the same experience.

I have a question; are the enemies in the humongous prison cell of the castle supposed to be heat-seeking missiles that can spot you from anywhere in the room and are impossible to hide from as a result?
Hi, not exactly supposed to, although it can be the case. The map is indeed too big which is something I was complaining about as well. The enemy in the bottom part of the prison is almost blind, should be able to see up to ~3 meters maximum. The other enemy, patrolling above, is a bit slower than normal Grunt, can only hear really loud sounds and has lower sight range. But it seems they often still react unnaturally and can spot the player across the whole map. Might be something related to activation distance.
It's difficult map to balance due to the completely stupid layout. I'll see if I can make it less annoying.
EDIT (October 17) - Should be fixed in the 1.7 version I just uploaded.
FYI: The Original version is back on ModDB, may eventually maybe appear as a custom story version in the future as well.
EDIT: August 23 2022 - Reborn version removed as it makes no sense since the drama is over and replacing a story in a finished mod was not a good idea.
Fixed some potentially game breaking bugs I found earlier, re-corrected typos in the cz version, fixed voice acting loops and updated to 1.6.
I also had to update the description and I hate the fact that it's being pushed all the way to the top again, I even asked ModDB how to avoid this but according to them it's designed this way for the purpose of letting people know, so... can't avoid it. Hopefully it's the last time.
Hi there! I'm stuck at the prison, I do not know what I'm supposed to find there. I know the one lady told me there is two things to find there, and I believe the prison level is the morgue, so im assuming I have to find something to rip malise's heart out but I don't know what I'm supposed to find to do that.
Nevermind I decided to try the elevator and it worked. I didn't think the elevator would work without all the rods.
Ah yeah I was stuck there myself because I watched a bit of a walkthrough on YouTube and there were keys in some of the prison cells. I guess that got changed.

I am a windows player, there will be an error saying that it couldn't load the main_init.cfg file. Edit whichever script file you are using, and where it says,
"custom_stories/wackersberg/config/main_init.cfg", you want to change that to "custom_stories/wackersberg_remastered/config/main_init.cfg". Then save the file, and it should work now.
