Calradia Reimagined takes us back to a different version of the M&B land we all know so well. What if the Swadians had decided that Archers and Shock Infantry would serve them better in the forested hills of their lands? What if they had never even been called the Kingdom of Swadia? What if the Rymor Republic was formed when the Mountain Towns broke away from the Kingdom of Anglior? This mod brings in new factions, new mechanics, new graphics and an entirely new feel to the base game.

This is from very early days, where the gauntlets they were told to wear chose to be absent. Also, there is littlevariation in the armor of the Anglicans as they are a faction basef on discipline and uniform.

I'd expect elite shock troops to have partial plate armor, or something better than a mail coat; these sort of men would be given the best armor around since they're more susceptible to ranged attacks.

Ah, but the main purpose of shock troops is to quickly create holes in enemy lines before the opponent has a chance to respond to the threat. Chainmail offers good protection, whilst offering a much lower weight than plate armour, thus not affecting mobility quite so extremely. If the Champions were to wear plate mail, they would realistically have to be slower, meaning they would not be able to fill their role of linebreakers. If they were to merely shuffle toward the enemy they would be even more susceptible to countermeasures, including reforming of enemy defensive lines, a cavalry charge, or even a simple volley of arrows.

Description

This image shows off the top-tier troops of the Kingdom of Anglior. In front we have the Anglioran Champions; Heavily armoured and deadly in melee combat. Behind them are the Anglioran Yeoman Longbowmen, who are some of the best archers in the game, and are remarkably dangerous. And to the back left are the Anglioran Knight; medium cavalry best suited to flanking the enemy and killing archers and lighter units.
