A high-res version of one of the trailers that I mentioned in the second part of the article

Thank you for uploading a high-res version of this video! However, I don't get, why there was never a rain showed in the game.

The "Storm entity", the rain, doesn't really look well in its last version. The rain splashes on the ground also spawn underwater, not on its surface
And maybe they just had no appropriate level where they could place the rain

Indeed, and that probably explains, why they haven't added it.

the rain is also area based, that means you would walk from sunshine into a "rain"boarder, looks and feels bad, especially if you then walk back, out of the area again.

I see and I mostly meant it, like one mission in the Matto 4. I don't want to mention that mission, mostly because of spoilers, and I think that everybody who likes Far Cry 1, should play that mod (and also other three previous ones).

This is exactly my reaction after I watched this trailer for the first time many years ago
As well as "How do I make this appear in the game?!"
This trailer and browsing "those game files I never met in the game" eventually led me to create BRP mod after years of digging for info.
