Vent Mod is an addition to Black Mesa's "We've Got Hostiles!" chapter, adding new areas to the last bits of the chapter. This mod re-adds and revamps the vent sections of the chapter, which were cut from Black Mesa due to their inadequacies. The issues that they had in the original have been (hopefully) done away with.

Steam version now online


Greetings and salutations everyone!

I hope many of you have been enjoying the recent steam release of Black Mesa! Even if Xen is still in the works, I, (hopefully!) like most of you, scooped up the game in a heartbeat. I have dug into the recesses of Hammer once more so that the experience of Vent Mod can be enjoyed in the steam version's single player mode.

You can, of course, find it on the workshop. Link isn't working for some reason but you will find it there.

The steam version of this mod has been integrated into the newest version of the map supplied in the steam release. Naturally, since the very nature of Black Mesa itself has changed in the interim, and also because the decompile process is not perfect by any means, there are some slight regressions. I, however, do not think these will negatively affect your gameplay experience.

With the steam version's workshop integration, future patches, if any, will be a cinch.

Version 2.2 is broken with the latest BMS update (May 15 2016). I have not played it through so I do not know if it is completely unplayable or not but right at the start there are missing (black/purple checkerboard) textures.

I'm loving this mod, and I truly hope it keeps getting updated. If you want, I can bug/play test new versions for you before you release them here. Just E-mail the new files to me at if you want. I really think this adds better atmosphere to the end of We've Got Hostiles, and I love the implementation. I think you should link this mod on the Loop Mod page though, so that it gets a bit more notice. Keep up the great work!
