I made new 3d model of m16 steelhelmet instead of retextured ww2-era helmet.
it looks a little bit strange in front but nice work ;) Did you know that this helmet típe was originally invented in Hungary?
its forebear was the Berndorfer helmet which is a tipically austrian made helmet, used in 1917, but the most common was the M16, and it looked better than the Berndorfer. (Just a little more info) ^^
As far as i know, in austro-hungarian army helmets were adopted later than in german army.
True. Considering development of the Stahlhelm started in 1915, two years before the introduction of the Berndorfer in 1917, I'd say this story is rubbish.
The design of the Stahlhelm is actually based on sallet variants worn by footmen in the middle-ages.
Actually the story is not "rubbish" This type of helmet is invented by hungarian engineers, but due to the lack of resources the licence was sold to the germans and for the reason they had enough capacity to massproducing we bought only the finished ones from them. During the history this invention was recognized as german but correct me if I'm wrong ;)
ładne ładne ...
Does those actually even protect? Or they just for looks?
In "Men of War" steel helmets actually give protection. But chance to hit exactly at helmet is very small.
Very nice work :)
Looks real nice!
