Pictures showing new skin for the SVT-40. You can see that the bolt has a realistic polish colour and the wood tone/texture has been changed as well.
I believe red-bolt SVTs are post-war re-arsenal stuff...it should be white bolt in wartime.
I heard it too, but I always liked this one more.
You just forced me to do some reasearching. All SVTs were made between 1940 (July) and 1945 (January). All the production bolt carriers were white/grey. Russians put the weapon out of action almost directly after WWII and put them in stores. Sometime in 50s they decided to sell the SVTs (and other outdated weapons) on the market and so they refurbished them. Aside from other things, the bolt carriers were polished blue but because of the chemical reaction with the nickel-steel metal it turned red/purple.
So yes, you are right. But I will keep it that way because I like the red colour better than pure white. I might suppress the red tone a bit down to make it less evident.
