Preview of prototype models for Italian soldiers.
Italian main pistol of the war - Beretta M34. Good Italian design, the round was kinda weak but the pistol's construction was reliable and quite modern for its time.

Ground textures cannot be much high resolution - they would take lot of memory and they wouldn't look good from distance.

but you can always use mip maps.
Yes, if you use mip maps then the ground will look like on the picture :-)
Plus the texture resolution settings is set lower in this custom map than the standard in cod2.
