So we want to bring Team Fortress to AvP2. It shouldn't be too difficult, all of the weapons we need are already in AvP2, and configuring armor and run speeds and whatnot isn't too hard. What we need, however, is input on how this should go down, and modders to make the more difficult things happen, like possibly adding new weapons and more importantly, new GAME MODES, like Capture the Flag or Assault, things that teams do that aren't Team Deathmatch. However, this is AvP2 Fortress, so everything should have an AvP2 twist to it. Like Preds and Aliens on the teams realistically, but not whorishly. No Predator rocket-launcher guys, for example, but a Predator as the Spy, a class that's supposed to cloak and primarily use a knife anyway. -- SMID

Post news Report RSS A summary of our last two tests

Project Saviour ate most of our time, but we did have the opportunity to playtest the new maps Windebieste made. Here's a short review of what happened.

I know, it's bad behavior of me, not to provide any news items. Project Savior however took a bit more time than 4th of November. So, it's time to catch up with what happened last weeks.

Well, the first test that needs catching up was the second test of v1.1. We played One Flag CTF on the new maps of the mod, and we had a shock:

You see, it seems that the prefab handling the neutral flag was broken. It was an issue of calling the right trigger (after renaming it); easy to fix, but embarrasing to see the bug. We also had some pictures taken. While all are available at our gallery page, I also hand-picked some to put on the front page:

Friendly fire: I forgot to set the friendly fire off, so when Gps came running at me, I though it was the enemy. And with a minigun, it was way to easy to send him to the Xenomorph underworld. Sorry Gps.

Weird wallwalk chase. I didn't get close enough to Windebieste to nail him. So he managed to both score and send me meet Gps in that Xenomorph underworld I mentioned earlier. Didn't see anybody there, I guess he respawned meantimes.

There are plenty of pictures taken that day. I use FRAPS and run a video capture. Then use VirtualDUB to hand-pick the frames that will turn into nice pictures.

Black Appendix was kind to send me nine pictures of the next test. We ran it Saturday. You know, the day when we made poor Corax reinstall AvP2. You see, the current AvP2 client can't handle the presence of an AvP2 Fortress server in the list. But I'm straying. We ran One Flag CTF (again, to check if we corrected the bug). So, here are a couple of his pictures:

I can't comment that picture, since it is pretty obvious how that encounter ended. I do find it weird however to see myself through the scope of a sniper rifle. So he nailed me again. This shot was taken on 'Rooftops', one of the spanking brand new map Windebieste made.

Next step is to add the new binaries for Fortress as a patch. It will be based on Savior v1.2, with it's integrated ping functionality. This way, running a Fortress server will not spell trouble for the rest of the AvP2 players.
