YES 40K has some VERY over or under rated stuff in it...
Not to metion how most tanks look like WW1 tanks with HUGE cannons and turrets with VERY tall silhouettes...in the DANGEROUS battlefields of the 41st millenia why have your main battle tanks (Leman Russ etc.) with such HUGE silhouettes?
AND another strange thing is how the Leman Russ only has 100mm of armor on the front hull according to Lexicanum...this means WW2 era tank weapons could destroy a Leman Russ..NOW OF COURSE they have FUTURE metals\steels which have to be FAR stronger than WW2 era steel. But when they go up against Eldar, Necron and other advanced xeno weapons 100mm seems a little thin for the FAR above average protection it provides compared to other tanks.
And of course......It's just a game. And this is a mod, about that game, for another game.I don't personally mind if there's one or two things that differ from the miniatures.
And if people are genuinely bothered by the look of something, they have the facility to change it themselves. :)
^ Couldn't say it better right there, I SERIOUSLY doubt the armor figures on Lexicanum are accurate. They were probably just estimates or MANY different sources cobbled together... Although the Leman Russ isn't the most most "streamlined" tank there is, it fits the need for a simple and robust tank available in numbers.
The scale of a gun barrel isnt so important. the fact it must act as it is intended is more important. If something says 12 space marines can fit in it, but when you model it to the scale it only fits 3... then what? Thats not 40k either.. there has to be compromise to some extent. I dont see any problem with a barrel thats more realistic, than "hero scale" as long as it works as intended, fires the correct sized ammo, proper damage, armor and carrying capacity etc, there more important than having a 100% model accurate look. things just dont add up if you try that.
There is your Dozer Blade kdub40k.
awesome bro!
Now we can look for giant tyranid turds in the sand. :o
Lets hope you dont have to change the kitty litter too.
the models pritty good sept that the battle cannon is a bit small
the cannon size up is more like this 1-media-cdn.foolz.us
yes. I agree.. but 900 other people were complaining about it being too big in the Pre-Alpha release...
So I made it more REAL Life (still a 120mm smooth bore Battle Cannon is not really this big) if you go with ammo specs that is.
:D
I kinda like the smaller battle cannon.
its jest not 40k with out the over sized cannons or the unrealistic w.o.m.d's & lets not forget all the stupid crap that happens in the 41st
