HERE is a Rough Set up For Spikes for the Chaos Chimera and Leman Russ..
Once again Very Rough WiP ...
Not sure if I am liking the Placements of the SPIKES .. Maybe different Spikes are needed ??

Well..they do look practical. Those top ones on the sides couldn't hurt being 90 degrees. That's how they're usually portrayed.
the ones on the track guards you mean ??
Now that you mention it, they would obstruct the turret's traverse..
maybe putting a couple on the turret like this?:

Also removing the dozer for bloodpact all together, and adding frontal spikes like these would contribute greatly to the renegade feel of the tank. :D

First Image you give .. I did think of that .. that can be done...
Second image ... I tried that too , but It seemed funny looking .. I will give this some more thought ..

The Spikes can not/Will not be made/placed on the vehicles that would hinder it in anyway if the set up was real Life ... so Longer/taller spikes on the sides would interfere with the main turret and gun movement...
etc ...
I agree with removing the dozer blade for chaos leman russ. not that its bad it just needs to look more evil
