The castle caved in on you. You heard the unnatural screams of those who succumbed to illness. You tried to find a way out. Hundreds of years later the memory of this place and the people it consumed has been lost. Until now, that is. It's the year 1997, your name is Robert and you have a special gift. But now you got yourself in trouble. Forced into the sewers with no way back up you have to find a way out. It shouldn't be hard but.. what are those cries for help coming from below?

That was a really great mod showing that Amnesia community is still alive and able to grow juicy fruits of hard labor and steel nerves.

Positives:

- Storyline was intriguing
- Level design is above average
- Voice acting is phenomenal
- Custom music
- Monsters were more difficult in this story

Negatives:

- Storyline, despite being intriguing, had it's fair share of clichés here and there

- The music was often very loud and it was hard to hear the voice acting at times

- The performance and design choices were terrible sometimes (read further down)

Bugs and flaws found:

The ladder glitched out when it touched the door to the room with the hatch, forcing me to reload a previous save

The crowbar didin't work when I loaded the save. Had to go back to yet another previous save before I picked up the crowbar

Second time I entered the dining hall and the first grunt encountered started, all sounds dissapeared for some reason. Tried opening youtube and sounds worked fine there. Sounds returned when I left the dininghall map

In the cellar, the invisible boxes aren't high enough so I could jump over them, trapping me on the other side

In the cellar, there is a static box on top of a moveable box. Move it and the static box is floating in the air

There is a locked drawer in the Nest map. You don't need to unlock it to pick up the items. This is a very common mistake. All items needs to be disabled before you unlock the desk, or you can pick up the items anyway through the smal crack at the desk door

The hammer animations looks very weird to me. Not sure if anyone else had this issue, but whenever I used the hammer it glitched around like crazy

In the room with the "Last words" note, throwing objects on the walls next to the door will make them glitch

Conclusion:

Story is a solid 8/10. Really kept me going and wanting more. Although the endings and the whole orb part was not "deep" enough and felt very cliché

Voice acting, despite being too quiet at times, was professional quality for a mod. 10/10

Custom music and the edited versions of the monsters made me afraid once more, and that rarley happens in amnesia nowdays. Only wished the music wasn't so loud at times. 9/10

Level design has it's fair share of flaws and don't offer much new. Still, it's way better than something I usually expect from a new modder. It's a solid 7/10

Gameplay/performance, no doubt the weakest part of the mod. I had to restart more than once due to bugs and got myself stuck here and there. Being a modder myself, I know how difficult this can be. I made mods and when others play it, items suddenly dissapeared and other weird **** happened, so I know how it can be. Still, when a mod forced me to load previous saves multiple times, something isn't right about it. Definitely needs more work, 4/10.

I can clearly see you put effort into this mod. Yeah it has it's fair share of bugs and glitches, but the story is great, voice acting is superb, and the level design is far from professional, but also far above average. This is way better than my first amnesia mod was by far.

Therefor, despite the bugs, I think this mod deserves a 8/10 and a recommandation. I'm not very interested in Amnesia anymore for the most part, and the community is definitely not near as big as it once was, but if you in the future make another mod and I still have Amnesia installed, I will give it a shot, no doubt.

a nice long mod made out of original assets, clever design and puzzle choices sometimes, and difficult monster encounters at some places. while the design was decent in most cases, occasionally you left areas completely empty and bland, especially near the end. the temple area was unnecessarily huge, produced lag, but it barely contained anything. the mod featured well made custom music as well. the story was not the strongest point, the voice acting was very quiet sometimes and lacked subtitles at points, but it deserves to be rated as okay still. endings were well.. very short and a bit cheap, but at least there was a choice about what to do. oh, almost forgot, you get a + for the many hidden collectables and notes you've scattered around :) all in all i liked this mod, and i hope you will make another. keep it shorter with the same work input next time, and concentrate on the negative aspects i've mentioned and you'll be good to go ^^

I enjoyed this custom story, from the beginning to the end.
I'm a player, not a glitch scavenger.
Ok, this is my rev.
It's a old style amnesia mod,
serious and well done.
No matter if there are a few details on the walls, there are very large maps to explore. The temple is fantastic. Here there is an attempt to do a a non linear game.
Infact I have some key that
I have not used.
I assume that there's more to explore.
The music are freaking, disturbing, creeping, choose your adjective.
Why not 10/10?
Because the volume of the voice actor, It is very low.

9/10
Great.

An excellent mod. Considering that this was the first attempt at modding by this developer, I'm pretty impressed, and wasn't expecting something nearly this good.

The story is the best element of this mod. It's detailed, interesting, and unique, and it kept me hooked all the way through. It also had pretty good voice acting as well as plenty of notes and flashback scenes which I liked. There are also custom monsters, as well as some really good new music. Another thing that's interesting about this mod is that it can actually be played through multiple times, as doing things differently will result in a different ending (as apposed to most stories where the ending is simply based on one decision made at the end.)

There are a few criticisms I do think need mentioning though. First one is the bugs. Overall there weren't too many, but I did have to completely restart at one pint because an item wouldn't spawn. Also, it wasn't all that scary other than some of the monster moments, and there weren't a ton of them. Not that I'd rather monster spam, but I did feel that some sections could have been taken advantage of a bit more in terms of building tension. It was solid in the beginning, but fell off a bit down the stretch.

Despite those things, I'm still very impressed with this mod and I highly encourage the developer to make another, as this mod clearly shows that he has the potential to make something truly great.

Story: 9/10
Scares: 7/10
Gameplay: 8/10

Overall: 8/10

I've just finished this. What an amazing custom story! It took me three hours to complete it. It's not missing a really great and gripping storyline, excellent "classic Amnesia" map design (which I like the most), many nice puzzles, original ideas and some custom stuff. Overall feeling is the old-fashioned classic game (meant in a good way!). Voice acting is always a nice feature (though here it could use some improvements). A very important fact about this custom story - the creator included an autosave feature.

The autosave feature is, however, where the negatives start. Some of maps seem to get broken at some points when reloading an autosave. Some of the flashbacks don't work, but what's more important, puzzles get bugged - can't unlock doors, can't put "fuel" in the furnance and such. I had to reload one of the older saves (20 minutes of gameplay ruined) to be able to re-enter the map to let it load all the scripts properly again. This needs fixing.

All in all, despite the problems, it was an outstanding experience which got this custom story 10 outta 10.

Quite a good mod. I enjoyed the story a lot, but I had hard time understanding what meaning some of the characters had.

You had some really cool ideas, for example I can't get over how cool the coughing character was. Such a small and simple thing, yet I haven't seen it anywhere else. The puzzles were on point as well.

I got legitimately scared a few times, so good job.
Music and ambiances were awesome.
The atmosphere was neat, although it washed down in some places.
The level design was innovative, but often lacked in detail and was messy.

Three things that really took the enjoyment from me were: Some frustrating monster encounters, excessive amount of running between interest points, and the insanity system, which was a pain; It didn't add up to experience, and because of the way you did lighting the sanity constantly decreased, which was quite annoying.

Still, great job! I know how much effort you must have put into this.

I should start off by saying that, for a first time modder, this was amazing, far better then most who attempt this the first time. The story is very well done, despite a few grammatical error in the notes, and it kept me engaged all the way through. There were tons of interesting notes and flashbacks which made the story feel rich and unique. It also has multiple (6 I believe) endings, as well as one major twist that caught me totally off guard. There's also a custom soundtrack that features some of the best monster music I've ever heard in an Amnesia cs. My only major complaint is that I had a hard time getting this to work initially, and on top of that, suffered a game breaking bug at one point and had to restart.

Here's the overall summary of my thoughts:

Positives:

- engaging, detailed, and well written story with many endings and excellent voice acting

- good custom soundtrack with amazing monster music

-monsters are scary again. Both because of the music, and the fact that this mod doesn't allow you to simply throw yourself into a closet and wait for 30 seconds. You'll need to be a bit more creative if you wish to survive. This mod also features a new monster as well.

- Solid level design for the most part, including an amazing final map.

- Puzzles were well designed. Challenging, but not so much that they broke the pacing

Negatives:

- Bugs, including a game breaking one that I experienced.

- You can skip some parts. On my first playthrough, before having to restart, I was able to get up to the attic were the dungeon key is by stacking boxes, thereby skipping like 30 minutes of gameplay.

- Other than monsters, there aren't really any other scare tactics used and it gets a little dull near the end.

Overall, I'd have to say I'm more than impressed with this mod, and it's easily the best one that's come out in a long time. Add a little more variety to the scares and polish up some of the technical aspects, and I have no doubt your next mod could easily be worthy of a 9 or even 10. Very much looking forward to your next project.

Nice mod! It really felt like those "good 'ol" Amnesia customs. Atmosphere was good and i liked the voice actors. They were good. I give 9 because some places were little bit empty. Everything else were great! It's still nice to have new custom stories to this game. My favorite horror game :3

Fantastic CS! :)

Apart from some grammar mistakes, this was a very, very good CS. The atmosphere and sounds were scary enough to make you afraid even is there was no threat. I'm a huge Amnesia fan and I love a CS with a good and scary story. Good job.
