[VER 2.0 UPDATE AVAILABLE] Play A:TDD as a puzzle platformer with comedy and horror elements, with 2D action in a 3D environment. Amnesia: The Second Dimension is a loving parody of The Dark Descent, adding a new dimension to the story, whilst removing a dimension from the gameplay.

Well... I finally finished whole mod and just wow, how entartaining this one was! Really original concept with everything executed almost perfectly, except couple really annoying situations and bugs I found when playing it.

First of all I liked the dialogue so much, I laughed so much when "Grunts talked each other nonsense or just "humor talk" that was funny! Map designing is beautiful and elegant and how whole platform jumping execution was great!

BUT!

Sewers part make me angry, I literally cried after trying this part 50 times and died too. Okay first "section" wasn't that hard, second was little harder and timing is critical too. WELL, after that I faced last section AND I was so frustrated I was thinking why to make it so annoying, I mean you have to jump, jump and turn, jump more and just perfectly landed that one platform and then turn again and jump rapidly and just "90% luck to reach that final platform" and this is time limited part and if you are even "0.0001 second slower" you will drop of the platforms, I mean c'mon with these grunt controls and climbing up next platform etc. becomes so frustrating I can't even tell you guys.

Well... then... I was thinking "It's finally over no anymore these parts" Oh... boy I was wrong... then comes the "Choir map"

I literally raged out of my mind when I progressed that "Choir part" that was pain in the ***! I mean I literally tried this part 100-200 times up and down, I mean controls are not that good and timing is critical what comes to jumping another platform to another when I was trying find that last key, it was so annoying and frustrating platforming part I ever played in whole "Platforming genre" it was that painful. Sorry to sound harsh and critical, but you guys need to update this part more easier, because sometimes when jumping another platform and then second one and another and + timing is have to be perfect. It's really hard to execute perfectly and you have to try it and try it so long. There's no easier guidance or use something to make it less "frustrating".

I don't blame you entirely because of the controls, but that's why you need to improve platforming parts little easier and not that frustrating! Like adding couple checkpoints here and there, I know some of the maps are really easy to finish with even one life, but platforming parts are just annoying as it gets and that break my experience sometimes so badly.

Anyhow, I really enjoyed this mod, but some big maps I got low fps and lagging a lot, don't know why, but that was little annoying too and it's hard to jump and focus on the puzzling parts too.

Humor is really good in this mod and those conversations make's it so enjoyable to play, every monster and all those chase parts were my favourite and sometimes it was really challenging, but I managed complete every part only with couple of deaths.

Last of all I really loved this mod + expect those couple "Most annoying platforming moments" still, you put so much effort on this mod it's unbelievable it was so refreshing and awesome to play! Ending boss was really funny and little challenging and awesome to beat!

Pos:

- Monsters
- Talking sequences (including humor talking) + events
- Chase events
- Music
- Tension
- Creative designing
- Original concept, different and refreshing to play whole mod through
- Lots of different levels to play

Neg:

- Couple game-breaking bugs (You can cheat couple parts)
- Couple really annoying platform jumping parts (Raging is 95% possible)

Well done Aetheric Games team! You really managed to made this mod possible and it's amazing! I really felt playing different game and imagine to play it "In different dimension" and that was you're goal and you succeeded!

Thank you so much for making this! "Clap Clap" :)

9/10 - Amazing & original ride and MUST play for every Amnesia-fan Player!

The controls and physics are little bit clumsy for a platforming game in HPL engine, but other than that, this was an excellent mod in all respects.

I really loved your CS man! The story was very funny, the mapping in 2D was pretty good even tho im not a real 2D-gaming fan this was really impressive and also the mod was something new you've rarely seen before.

I haven't seen one bug at all.

But the thing I hated was the controls. I know this game should be "oldschool" but to be honest why making a game oldschool if the "oldschool mechanic" isn't good at all. I would've loved shift to run instead of "hold to run". I mean for example all of these Mario games had one button to run too. Or am I wrong?

An other thing was at the 3rd level you couldn't get out of the fire. I was stuck and couldn't walk at all. Dying then. Pretty frustrating.

But that were the only things that weren't really nice. Overall it's very awesome made and very enjoyable.

Lots of love and keep up the work. :D

A fantastic mod that really shows off what creativity, and talent can create. It's an Amnesia experience unlike any other for more reasons than one.

It did get extremely frustrating in the second half, but I still found the incredible innovation, creativity, and the great story outweighed those angry moments. I highly recommend people to play this one, or at least give it a try, especially if you're a fan of platformers.

Story: 9/10
Creativity: 10/10
Gameplay: 7/10 (innovative, but very frustrating at times!)

Overall rating: 9/10

downloaded amnesia tdd just for this mod and it was totally worth it!!
it's freaking hard, but thats what platform games should be.

The positive point (2/10 instead of 1/10) is definitelly the great idea the creators had. It's awesome to convert Amnesia into a sidescroller that is a parody of the original Amnesia.
However, it's POORLY made. A minor detail is that there is no voice-acting which would be great when having dialogues.
The main reason of such a low rating for such a thing that's supposed to be awesome is the physics-based controlling of the grunt which often proves to be extremely hard.
I spent an hour trying to get over the platform cellar lever, completely furious, smashing the keyboard. It is nearly (or fully?) impossible to jump from platform to platform in time with the grunt's physics and get over that level. I had some problems jumping with the grunt before that level, but I accepted it as if it'd been made to be challenging. However I'm not accepting this kind of difficulty shown in the platform cellar level, I like my nerves a lot and I will make my head not to blow up.

Innovative, interesting, unique, funny, and it has a good story to top it all off.

Can be frustrating though (especially at end boss)

If you don't mind rage, and are looking for a unique Amnesia experience, this is for you.

2D puzzle platformers never really were my cup of tea, and this mod won't change that but I can still recognize quality when I see it. This is easily one of the most innovative Amnesia mods out there. Simply the idea is something that I never even considered, which is what makes it great. I also loved the story and humor, as well as the destructible enviroment and secrets, not to mention 9 endings and a score system but.....

The frustration got to me. For starters, the controls were not the best, or most responsive, which made some of the platforming harder than it should have been, not to mention how important timing is at some parts. And to make it even worse, if (when) you do mess up say 10,20,100,300 times, the consequence is either death, or a long walk to get back to the start which wastes even more time. A checkpoint system would certainly be welcome. You can skip levels if you get too frustrated but it resets the total score to 0, so anyone caring about score would be even more frustrated ( i didn't so this didn't impact me and I only skipped one level anyway) but the final boss, oh the final boss. That fight actually made me rage quit TWICE!!! (something ive NEVER done in Amnesia before). At least, few more lives should have been given for that fight.

I know that sounds like a lot of bad, but it was just the frustration, everything else about this was fantastic and even though i wouldn't say I had the best experience, for all the work, originality and the concept, im happy to give this 9/10 and it is definitely a must play for any Amnesia owner who also enjoy platforming

This was an excellently created game, I didn't even think this sort of thing was possible on the amnesia engine.
The level design and puzzles are great, dialogue is excellent too.

The main irk of mine is just how horrible the character control is. In some cases I was simply getting so angry at how everything was as slippy as ice. Simply jumping over basic obstacles became more difficult than it should be because your jump height was so super variable and jumping without a run up would get you nowhere.
Additionally, the running mechanic was just absolutely painful. Personally I'd prefer and instant run at max speed type system rather than an extremely long acceleration time one.
I know this is the way a lot of modern platformers have gone, but in my opinion this just over complicates things and makes it way too difficult to simply control your character.
Maybe things would've been better with a controller, I don't know.

Regardless, the fact that you've achieved so much with this engine is excellent and I do hope you continue modding in the future!

Amazing, unique, engaging. This mod has pretty much everything that you could want in a custom story. It runs parallel to the main story, but adds a quirky, comedic charm to it. The puzzles are well thought out, take some thinking, and are immensely satisfying to complete. The music direction reflects the charm of the mod but also the macabre nature of Amnesia. Also, it's a side scrolling platformer, what's not to like?
