HOW TO ACTIVATE THEM

You must press some little buttons that you can find in Rainy Hall, there will be 10 buttons to change the mode you are currently playing. If you never interact with these buttons you will play by default in Standard Mode - Normal Difficulty. Everytime you interact with one of these buttons, a text message will be shown on your screen, telling you which mode have you picked.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONS

The latest version of Amnesia is required! This mod will change some already existing maps of the game, but without changing too much of the original concept built by the developers of the game.
More precisely, I made this mod in a way that it will not appear that intrusive, so you will still be able to enjoy the main story as if you have never installed this mod in the first place.
If you decide to keep this mod installed, even after you completely explored it, will it influence your custom stories installed?
If you've chosen the Base Version then the answer is NO, it only affects the maps of the main story.
If you've chosen something else other than the Base Version then the answer is YES, it could affect a custom story, but the changes are minimal and there's a high chance they won't break any mechanics.

New update already live

News

Hey guys! The mod has been updated to bring new changes to both base and greedy versions. Here's the list of the main changes:

- Installing only the Base Version NO LONGER AFFECTS YOUR CUSTOM STORIES! In fact Base Version now only affects some already existing files which are not used in any way by custom stories devs. In detail: it affects the main maps of the game (for obvious reasons) and some lang files (changes needed to show info on the screen when interacting with the buttons to change the current played in-game mode).

- The in-game buttons used to change the current mode have been REMOVED FROM ALL HUBS! The only place you will be able to find them is in the very first map, next to where Daniel wakes up. This change has been done to prevent several bugs caused by changing the current mode mid-game, now you can choose the mode only at the beginning of the game, choose wisely!

- Changed funny enemies music to be all royalty free and YouTube-friendly.

- All enemies sounds (both standard and funny modes) are now "3D" which means that you can tell (if you're wearing headphones) from where the sound is coming from.

- Added new step sounds to enemies.

- Changed extra pros/cons to all difficulties (except normal difficulty).

- Fixed oil barrels so the game remembers if you've already emptied an oil barrel in the past, instead of resetting each time the related map is visited.

- Changed some goodies locations.

That's all! I hope you'll enjoy the new update! See you :D

I can't get the story to appear in my custom stories. Or is it not there? like I just start the game normally and play

Yeah, exactly. Start a new game and you should already see the changes in the first map, for istance, after you start a new game and your character wakes up you'll see near you some buttons on the floor, those are needed to try the new modes :)

I trust this will be an ACTUAL hard mode this time around? not just frictional turning off danger music? because in the hard mode they released I could for the life of me not find anything different or other then constantly dying to sanity loss

umukzus yes it is, although I didn't include the thing "if your sanity drops to zero you're dead" or "if you die you have to restart from your previous save" because I couldn't find a way to implement those, I could add a "bad ending trigger" if the player dies but then I thought that would be a bit annoying, I've only added it to the very last section of the story. I hope you'll find it challenging, if you have any suggestions let me know ;D

Do you seriously expect anyone to read that text wall of a description? Jeez

GatewaySnake I've written a detailed description because it's an overhaul mod, by installing the mod you'll change some default game files, which can look risky to some people, so I wanted to reassure those people and specify almost every single change you'll get.

It's good that you listed all the changes, but:
- Lists are better for this
- The change descriptions are too verbose
- Some of the text is just rambling
- It's not formatted at all.

My point being, no-one will care to read this, and you will have the exactly opposite effect - less people will play. This is like trying to sell a car by making people read its manual.

Also you should use FC mods for something like this, not make the players overwrite their files.

GatewaySnake this time I wanted to do something different from a custom story or a full conversion mod. Do you have any advice for me to improve the changes list? I was thinking about a text file, included inside the zip file, that lists briefly the changes.

Such arrogant behavior. Luckily votes speak for themselves.
