Surprise!

Hey everyone!

As you can see, I am finally close to releasing something. This is a thing I have wanted to do for a long time now, and now I have finally managed that. The reason why I thought this was the perfect time was because I have been working on Year Zero for quite a long time without breaks, so this was a nice little refresher to have in-between. There is also another reason why I did this in this particular time, and you can read that below.

Changes when compared to original "masterpiece"

The original mod is mediocre at best, if even less than that. Still, the nostalgic bias is strong with that one, and that has led to this moment. My aim with this mod is to give the player a lot better experience than before, while still keeping a little bit of the goofiness provided with the original.

First two mansion maps are completely revamped. The general layout remains the same (with little expections), but instead of the boring old mansionbase assets I'll be using the modern assets. No more two wall tall walls which made no sense to begin with, no more nonsense blue light everywhere and no more stupid glitches.

The cellar areas and the dungeon area are also totally revamped. This includes better lighting, better detail, and better atmosphere overall. Thanks for this goes to Lester79, who helped with these maps and brought them to a completely new level.

• The story will be entirely rewritten. The storyline was probably the worst part of the original mod back in the day, as it made absolutely no sense, was stupid, poorly written and had way too many plotholes. The basic premise will stay the same, as well as the general idea, but the events in the story will be drastically changed. Another thing with the new story is to make this feel like the prequel to Year Zero. More about that later.

• No more pointless examinations. This was a thing I was excited with in the past, influenced by Penumbra. Now, however, I consider all the examinations pointess as they did not give the player anything.

• Collectibles. This is a little foreshadow to Year Zero and The Chosen Ones.

Those are the main changes, and below are some of the smaller ones:

• Instead of the two usual endings, there will now be three. It is a semi-secret ending, but can be achieved by using common sense.

• Some puzzle layouts and items will be changed a little bit

• More events and ambient sounds

There will also be more smaller things, but I'd also like to leave some of these things for the player to see themselves.

I recommend you to play this version before the original to see the changes and (presumed) improvement over the years.

What's the point of the door blocked with boxes at the end of the game? Thought you would get rid of them with the explosive.

It was a poor excuse from me xD. The boxes were blocking the original way out, but because you are not supposed to go there I decided to use it to block the way. You can use explosive for something else though.

SPOILERS AHEAD!

Man, here's some stuff that seems weird to me in the 1.1:
1. You can unlock the final door with only the rock and the fire of the torch.
2. In the final level too, there's a weird lever in a wall that doesn't serve any purpose, at least that's what I think.
3. I don't even know when the door to the Ice shard was opened, but I guess it was when the monster spawned.
4. Only players who have played Amnesia will know that Cuprite is one of the ingredients to create something (Even if in the original game it was to create an acid.)
5. There's a door that you can't open before entering the dungeon, I think that was unnecessary.
6. Everything else is ok.

Hope to see the remastered version soon! It has been some months and wanted to replay this awesome custom story before you launch the new version! I guess all this was unnecessary, since, other people may have pointed it to you, but I wanted to clear everything in just 1 comment! Hope to see the new version soon! And congratulations on making a playable and enjoyable custom story! PD: That brute in the Cellar was my doom, I screamed like a girl, please, don't do that again Hahahaha!

I'll get through those things you mentioned:
1) I have never seen that before, and taking a look at the scripts that should be impossible. Not saying it can't be, but it's a strange issue. I'll take a look at that when I work with the remaster.
2) Yep, an iron bar which I forgot there XD Sorry from inconvinience.
3) SPOILERS! The brute which spawned broke the door where you found the ice :3
4) Good point actually. But in this case, the name cuprite is just a name ^^. If yoy don't know with what will the cuprite react with, you won't get stuck
5) There should be a total of three doors you can't open, one in Second Floor, one in cellar and one in the second part of cellar.
6) Great!

Thanks for reminding those weird things, I'll fix them on the remaster ^^. I'm very happy that you enjoyed this CS and now I will finish the remaster gladly. Thanks once again!! And yeah, the brute can be an a-hole there :P

!SPOILERS!

After you unlock the door by getting the three elements, you'll find a container of chemical from the area. You can use it to create an explosive in the room with the fire- and use it to blow the rubble away after the area collapses, allowing you to escape.
