Ace Combat: Distant Thunder brings to life the world of the hit PS2 game Ace Combat 4 into an immersive real time strategy mod. Built into Zero Hour, play as either the ISAF forces, attempting to retake their homeland, or Erusea; a war driven superpower sweeping across the continent. The mod will bring the full power of each army to you disposal, and will allow you to fight on the ground in the air, or even on the sea.
As an ISAF commander, utilize the hard-hitting precision capabilities of your units to gain control of the battle. Whether dropping special forces soldiers behind enemy lines in your advanced V-22 Ospreys or utilizing the powerful guided anti-tank missiles of your A-10 Warthogs to eliminate entire tank columns in one fell swoop, the key to an ISAF victory is striking fast and hard.
When commanding Erusian forces, you have vast armies of soldiers at your disposal. Send massive groups of tanks to meet your foe, and crush them with your superior firepower and armor, while overwhelming your enemy on all fronts forcing him to admit defeat or be crushed under the mighty feet of your unstoppable military force.
No matter which side you choose, one aspect of the war is undeniable: the sky. Should you choose the foolish option of denying yourself the heavens, you will undoubtedly fall in battle. He who controls these shattered skies shall be victorious.
It may have been awhile, but we're finaly gonna get off our ass and show you some new stuff! Also, a big thanks to Swiss Knight for writing up this update, and making us get off our ass.
Today’s update covers one of the most lethal aircraft in the Erusian Air Force, the MiG-29 multi-role fighter. Well suited for hunting in groups, the MiG-29 can tear up armored columns and enemy fighter squadrons alike.
With the Erusian MiG-21 steadily becoming obsolete in the face of newer and more advanced ISAF fighters, the Erusian high command began development of its newest light weight fighter. The initial flight tests, concealed in secrecy, revealed the aircraft to be exceptionally maneuverable and very deadly in the hands of a capable pilot. During the final attack on ISAF forces stationed on the mainland, Erusian MiG-29’s were instrumental in clearing the skies above the remaining ISAF territory, most notably in the air offensive on Shellsbridge in which enemy fighters were, for the most part, destroyed before they could even take off.
