This is a Half-Life 2 total conversion. It's a mod based strongly on Diablo 1 with the style of gameplay in Diablo 2. I always felt Diablo 1 had the better story and atmosphere, but Diablo 2 had the better gameplay and more useful features. In this mod, we're attempting to pull together the best of both of the games to bring the player into a truly download worthy mod. The story will be recreated from scratch and will be based loosely on the Diablo 1 story. This story will be entirely new and is not meant to affect the outcome of either Diablo 1, Diablo 2, or any of the Diablo novels or upcoming games (Diablo 3). We Will Not Release Crap

Diablo 3 was announced yesterday at the 2008 Worldwide Invitation in Paris.

As some of you may already know, Diablo 3 was announced yesterday. It was also my birthday yesterday, so that was a nice birthday surprise from Blizzard. I can't really say it was a surprise since I knew they were going to announce it when they aquired diablo3.com, but it was exciting still.
This made me do some thinking. I started Abaddon because I wanted to make a Diablo game in full 3d on a modern engine. Now that Blizzard is working no the official Diablo 3, it kind of makes my original reasoning and motivation behind this mod obsolete. There is no way that we could ever even hope to make a mod that would be even close to what Diablo 3 will be (if you don't believe me, go look at some of the videos for Diablo 3). Because of this, I've decided to discontinue the development of Abaddon. It saddens me, and I'm sure it saddens many others, to do this, but with Diablo 3 under development, if we were to continue this mod it would be like trying to compete with Diablo 3 and we could never do that. If someone would like to continue this mod in my place, just let me know and I'll send you all of my files and images and code and models and everything else that I've done so you can continue the mod.

That doesn't mean you can't make your own unique game using the same style. I would highly recommend this, since we need more games LIKE Diablo, but not necessarily Diablo itself.

Plus, Diablo III will be out in the winter of 2009 or in 2010 anyways, so you have plenty of time to make your own game via this style.

I hope you continue developing with a new idea, but same style.

Why the fuck would you do that ? you're making a game called Abaddon, so just change the whole story but with the Diablo Engineering. Shit man, i'd love to play another game just like diablo man. just me tho,
