The fighters look great... Not sure what I shall think of the larger ships.. They don't look that much different from the other races. Infact the large destroyer has a bit the shape of a hiigaran Ion frigate or a little the form like an Aurora class ship from Stargate.
ships like that for example would fit more to your nice fighters.

It's of course your mod and your dicission where you go with your new race. I just hope you will give us some fresh spectacular designs. Like I said those 2 big ships doesn't look that different from the rest of the races (my opinion only)
In hw1 every race was special (except for taiidan & kushan) the 3rd party races all had their own unique designs. That's one of the biggest things I missed in Homeworld2. All ships in there looked nearly like same which was unimaginative. But there were also only 3 races + Bentus.
Well I wish you could luck on the new race.
however in my opinion none of the above ships look hiigaran, the only thing that reminds me of something else is the shape of the frigate is akin to a covenant ship but hey we all need inspiration and tbh that would just make me want to play the mod moar lol. keep at it :)
