The Pantsir air defense system is the new generation of Russian short range air defense system.
Capbale of detecting target 36 km away, tracking ~28km away, and engaging target 18 km away, the Pantsir system is more capable than many its modern counterparts, including the Crotale system (detection: 20 km, tracking 30 km, engaging: 16 km), the ADAT system (detection: 8+ km, tracking: 8+ km, engaging: ~10 km), and the Roland missile system (detection: 15~18km,and engaging range of 8.8 km).

The missile used by the system is also especially fast, capable of reaching 1300 m/s, compared to crotale's 1200 m/s, ADAT's ~1000+ m/s, and Roland's ~560 m/s.

A pair of 30 mm auto cannon is also included for the engaging of close range targets and ground tagets within the range of 4 km. Each gun fires at an high rate of fire from 1950 rpm to 2500 rpm, and each carries a ammo load of 700 rounds.
