Hey, I completely forgot about the ModDB section for 88 Flak. Whoops. =P
I suppose it's only fair to give an update for Flak for those who either don't check the site/forums, or those who have it on Mod Watch (which is, uhh, five people, I think including me lol). I am also completely bored out of my mind on a family visit to Ohio, USA, so yeah. Heheh.
This is mostly just a lazy paste-in of the news post I've recently sent to Lancers Reactor, however it gets the point across - I have recently made "88 Flak: Final Cut," a video recording of some of the features the mod 88 Flak has to offer. The video is roughly 9 minutes in length, with a personal voice-over by me to explain the features presented. This is the first video project I have ever made, and I hope that everyone whom this video reaches enjoys it. It's certainly a lot better than the Battlefield 1942 videos I used to make.
Within, I will cover: (in this order)
-- Pilotable Ships (104 total, all from stock FL except the Serafina by Asmo)
-- Ship Classes
-- AI
-- Player-Tags
-- Docking System
-- Cargo Pods
-- New Jumpgate Features
-- Hirable AI Wingmen
-- Configurable AI Bot Squads
The features chosen are a little random, as the video was mostly recorded with an "alright, let's hit the on button and see what happens" atmosphere. It is not a full representation of 88 Flak, however I feel that it offers a sufficient taste of the mod's general ambition - to deliver the most unique and intensively skill-based combat system available to Freelancer, with a unique range of features to help accomplish this - from strange takes on class-based balancing; to stationary, dockable player-purchasable bases (stationary, not flown!); to hirable mercenary fleets; to even customizable AI Bot Squads to lead into battle, for when your friends aren't available. (blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda, insert cheap advertising tricks here)

Progress on the beta, as well as the up-to-date beta download, may be found here:

In addition to the link provided, I will shortly upload the video to ModDB (if possible, it's rather large - I'll work on a slightly better compressed version when I return home). Although, I should mention that despite the Memes server being located almost half-way across the globe (I think) from me, I'm getting approx. 430KB/Sec from the server, which puts the 185MB download in at about 8 minutes on my current connection (which is just standard fare cable, to the best of my knowledge)
I guess that's all for now. In 20 years, I might actually pull 1.27 out of beta and begin work on a 1.28, assuming I haven't gone clinically insane by that point. It's just silly right now; I'm already at RC91, and if I hit 100 I will track people down and beat them with a stick. =O
