Imagine a world where the Allies didn't win the war, nor did the Axis. Instead, the war just continued on and on in an unsteady stalemate. Welcome, to the world of 1949. In this world Germany decided not to bomb London, but instead continued its attacks on Britain's airfields. Then, the Russians lost at Kursk. Finally, D-Day fails. With these victories, Germany has managed to halt the Allie's progress. In the Western Theatre, the Allies and the Axis each plan the invasion of the other's vital territories. In the Pacific, Japan and the United States are dueling over tiny islands with giant fleets and atomic weapons. Now, the stalemate is about to be broken. Germany is preparing an all out invasion of Britain. As tough and valiant as the Allied troops defending the Sceptered Isle are, some of their leaders are beginning to that they will be unable to hold against the Wehrmacht.

Why is everyone talking about the Maus as a good tank? they gave up on developing it in 1944, because they realised that it would never be a succesful tank.

For the resources they would have spent on any of those they could have built several Panthers, which were far more practical and weren't a giant target for airstrikes and artillery. Super tanks are cool to think about, but hopelessly impractical.

Actually I wish the Germans had built more of these "supertanks", because they would be cool to look at in a museam and they would have shortened the war by wasting time and resources the Germans couldn't afford.

and besides the maus was in operational state in 1945, some accounts say that it saw action and was finnaly destroyed by an air raid
ps: there were already two maus hulls (only one had the turret)

They stopped because they lacked the resources to be able to manufacture the tank, not because it wasn't any good. With enough resources and testing, this enormous monster of a tank could deal out loads of damage without even taking a dent. That's just about how it's going to be in this mod, at least.

Besides, since the Germans have air superiority in this timeline, they can afford to build weapons this big. Plus, alternate history is made so that players can experience what might have been, not what actually happened.

not to enflame further argument, But the Maus design is highly effective assuming one has a practical and reliable engine for it, The germans proved that larger stronger tanks are very powerful and infact if the war had been delayed abit more they would have had many panthers tigers and several maus tanks.

Finally they would have regained air superiority anyway making bombing runs and strikes semi useless, since their next generation stealth bombers their jet planes and generally highly advanced armarments make them neigh invincible in a dog fight and their ability to strike ground targets unparalelled, Just be Grateful they didn't get more of their large tanks and expensive planes or we'd all be speaking deutch/German.

You seriously overestimate their chances of victory in 1944-45, about which time the Jerries actually started constructing these "wunderwaffe". At this time they were strategically in a very poor position: they could not stop the Russians, and the Western Allies were already in France and closing on Germany. The tanks might have helped defensively in Russia for a time, IF they could get them there without their special transport cars being blown up by some hotshot fighter jock or the only couple of bridges capable of supporting that ridiculously heavy piece of junk getting bombed or without getting the thing bogged down in far less mud than would have troubled a Panther or Tiger OR without encountering any of the mechanical faults that notoriously plagued new German tanks.
But there was a snowball's chance in hell for them to gain air superiority even at a total war footing (the Luftwaffe was numerically stronger in '44 than in '39-'40; didn't really do them any good). They had practically no gas and no raw materials, and even if they had built these wunderwaffe, they would have had few enough trained crews to operate them that they would have played a nearly insignificant part, as those that were built did.

Exactly, the key difference in this universe is that Germany has enough raw materials. It gets them through a variety of means, but in any case, this mod is merely meant to allow us to have some fun with what might have been (Lord knows it wouldn't have been fun if this mod were reality). Let us content ourselves with the fact that history happened the way it did, not some other way.

In any case, I don't think Germany could ever have realistically won the war. Brought it to a standstill and peace, maybe, but Hitler bit off much more than he could chew and choked. So, therefore, it is good to note that alternate history is by its very nature, fiction.

Anyway, that's enough sermonizing for me, I'll go back and nose-grindstone.

Exactly. In your AU that is perfectly plausible. What sethfc was trying to do was extrapolate that into a real-life alternate scenario circa-1944, which is not plausible.
We can only thank God that we were blessed with incompetant idiots like Hitler, Goering, and the like as enemies instead of competant people like Rommel, Kesselring, or Galland.

Germany just gets about enough resources to build a landkreuzer and then it gets nuked 5 mins into gameplay. fair???

The Reich's gaurds seem cool but a little too similar to the SS grenadiers, do they gain veterancy faster or what. Ik they can get panzershrecks but is there just a little more. Cause they are 6 command points.

Description

Well, since we already have one update today, we might as well have another. It's taken quite a while, but the SS Waffen is finally prepared to make some excursions of its own. As usual, the matching news item for it will be out shortly.
