I played this when it came out and was one of the top players; I met the developers and had a lot of talks with them. They had a patch in the works early on but they were disappointed with the player turnout on the initial release. They stopped working on the patch and decided to abandon the mod to make a move to create the game standalone, "mods are on the downfall" they said, "we need to make it standalone". They got a contract with "Kuma Games" to do some development work for them, as well as allowing them to create Decimation as one of their free games. 2 years later on January 1st 2010 Kuma announced the release of a new game, "National Blood Sport", the first release of the new revamped Decimation. The devs were not pleased with the player turnout this time either and they shortly halted all further development of the game and dropped off the face of the planet. I've sent emails and messages but haven't gotten a single reply back, me and a friend of mine are capable of taking over the development of Decimation and we are interested in getting access to the source of the original mod which I am not sure Kuma still owns or not. The devs are working at unknown companies now probably professional jobs, while this great game is rotting in the corner, all it needed was steady updates and time, but the devs wouldn't have that. :(

Are people who own the retail version able to play online with the people who own the free version? I want to play when there is actually a lot of poeple playing online.

Is this for non-commercial purposes only? The article wasn't clear on whether or not we will be able to SELL our games once we make them on this free version on Cryengine.

I have a question, how are you making this mod without the CSS source code on hand?

Oh so you need basically everything that a mod needs? What the heck are YOU gonna do? Watch everyone do the work while you tell them what to do? You haven't explained enough about your idea to even get someone interested.

I read somewhere that almost all mods will never make it unless the leader does a large portion of the programming involved, and from what I've experienced that saying is very true.

Here read this, it should give you a better picture of what it takes to make a mod.
