Great so see such big progress recently! Was this manly because this units were nearly finished at the release or did asking the community for some help really change that much?

And a second question... is the Steam Workshop version always the newest or should I download it here?

Together with them they are also making the Easterling factions. I'm not sure if that's confirmed or if thats just speculation that I heard earlier, but they might move up North (Erebor, Mirkwood, etc.). It would make sense geographically because they would integrate Dale into the map. Sure there won't be a campaign map in the near future, but it would make sense for them to work in some kind of order.
This answer got way to long regarding the fact, that Mr. Jox will probably answer this question shortly and more accurate, but...

Currently they are focusing on other factions and the brilliant guy who made the dwarven artworks which were used for KoA originally made them for RoM and I guess they will still use them and that's atleast something to built on. :) Although people are always complaining that RoM is making way less progress than KoA, I guess the people working on KoA still got enough to do and can't help out that much. :/

Well, they released a closed alpha version some time ago, but only a few people have access to it. So yes there are/will be updates, but there's no real download link.

You would think that putting the comment section below the FAQ might work, but it doesn't. :D
Edit: My bad, as it seems it's not in the FAQ. :)

There is no doubt that Weta would be the best choice, as they have shown multiple times how talented they are. I would have liked a series focusing on the War in the North (Dale, Erebor, Easterlings), but that sadly wouldn't be a prequel... I just want to see more about the dwarves no matter if it's further back (Nogrod & Belegost) or a bit more recent maybe telling us more about Moria and it's downfall. :) Do you think the series will tell just one big story, or maybe each season focusing a new topic?

I hope they don't mess it up, although this could easily happen... but there is so much great material that they can use so lets hope for the best. :D I also hope that they take their time, as this is one of the most important things. In my opinion PJ could have made a Hobbit Trilogy way better than the one we have now if he had had more time. (RoM-Team understood this too.)
Or as Galadriel would say:"The Quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail, to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains while the Company is true."

So if we have any questions, idead, criticism or just pure hate we should write a comment beneath the FAQ article?

Exactly, and they are spending their own spare time to work on it! It's (a?) cockiness that they take so long to make progress... can I fill in a complaint form somewhere? Lazy dogs...

PS.: He doesn't seem like a person who deserves a "kindly **** off". :)
I hope that everybody in the RoM-Team knows how many of us think that you are doing a fantastic job! Of course there are "people" like darkotrk1907, or people who won't read the FAQ, but as I already said many people like your work and are willing to wait for it no matter how long it takes. Carry on the way that YOU think is the best.
Cheers!

I don't really know why, but to me throwing projectiles wouldn't look fitting in such a big amount of men. (Or any other race.)

Regarding the pikes in the books, lotr wikia says: "They were used at the Fords of Isen by the Uruk-hai, but not in the Battle of the Hornburg as seen in Peter Jackson's movies."

Gimli uses throwing axes in the movie, but still I think a big dwarven army running towards the enemy line without throwing projectiles would look better than an army that throws axes, pila, etc.

After you finished the Southern theatre of war will you move on to the North and make Erebor & Mirkwood Elves? (Can't wait to see first dwarven artworks! :D ) Or will you move somewhere else? I know that this won't be in the foreseeable future, but I just wanted to know if you have any ideas regarding this.

I can't wait to see 10 000 Uruks at the gates of Helms Deep (later I might add some Dunlendings). They just look awesome, I'm just afraid that my current PC won't have as much fun as I have during the battle...

The team pointed out several times, that they want the different factions to be not just different in the way they look, but also in the way they should be played. Dwarves have very good infantry, Elves very good archers and I guess Rohan will have very good cavalry and therefore a greater variety of horseman. (Just my guess.)

Just wanted to tell you what I think, until a team member who knows better will give you a better answer. :)

I totally agree with you, although some of the things you mentioned are facts so i couldn't disagree anyway. :) BUT "the dwarves possess some of the heaviest fighting infantry in middle earth", please get rid of the "some of" we all know dwarves are awesome and have THE BEST infantry. (I won't argue with anybody about that. ;) )

2) Ered Luin is Sindarin ("Elvish") for Blue Mountains.
3) The FAQ above (at the top of the page) might answer some of your still open questions. The picture with the currently planned faction can also be found in the FAQ. (Question 9. just click on the red letters.)

Well I'm completely happy with the classic version, as well as the majority of the people that will play this mod. Most people probably either don't know the wall or don't care if its there, like me. I think it will be a great battle and there are many small chokepoints that you could hold, thats why I think it will probably be long enough. And regarding the caves, I don't really care if they are on the map I was just interested how Helms Deep will look like roughly. :D

In the books Helms Dike is an earth wall, which was located a quarter mile in front of the Hornburg. Basically just another outer defense.

The Glittering Caves are caves behind the Deeping Wall (Thats the straight wall, which got bombed away.) Thats the place where the kids and women hid durig the battle. They were so beautiful, that Gimli founded a dwarven realm there. (After the War of the Ring.)

Can't wait for Helms Deep, despite its simplicity it is by far the most epic battle for me.
Will it be "just" Helms Deep as we see it in the movies or will we also see outer defenses such as Helms Dike? Any chance that we will see the Glittering Caves?

There is no such thing as a FAQ for RoM... why should anybody make such a thing, we all know that nobody would read it. ;)

xTratex - - 149 comments @ Total War: Rise of Mordor

Regarding this exact topic: We know that the War of the Ring didn't just take place in the South, but also in the North. But since you decided to not pick the classical era, I got a question: Sauron returns to Mordor in 2941 TA, and rebuilds Barad-Dur in 2951 TA so I guess the mod (campaign) is scheduled somewhere around that point in time. Smaug also dies in 2941 TA and Erebor and Dale are (probably) resettled soon after that event. So how can factions like Erebor, Dale or Beornings/Anduin Vale be so powerful, raise entire armies etc. only some years after they were "founded". This is fantasy so I'm not saying its "unrealistic" or something like that and I'm not expecting you to change the title, I just wanted to know if you guys gave thought to that at some point.... I've no idea why I'm even writing this whole comment and what I want to achieve, soo.... keep up the great work RoM-Team and have a great day!

Is the time frame just for the campaign or will it have any influence on the costum battle's as well?
