You only need HL2. Other games & episodes are only needed if you want to play through them cooperatively (like HL:S).

The limit in oc_harvest is kinda elastic, since the number of entities in harvest varies greatly during gameplay due to things like the number of seeds, crops, and stored produce on the map. Stuff can be added, but I have to be very careful about designing new stuff to make sure it is efficient as possible. More entities inevitably increase the risk of crashes at this point.

The apples aren't really a problem, since they are simply another scavengable item like mushrooms and it took basically no additional edicts to put them in aside from the physical apple props themselves.

You only need HL2 to play the mod, but of course to play the Episodes co-op you need those for that. Also some custom maps need the episodes as well, but you should be alright with only HL2.

Yes you need Half-Life: Source, as this runs on the Orangebox.

The juniper texture is from Episode 2.

Next version of harvest will require no mounts at all, everything is included.

Basically both teams start the map with one random card. For the team that wins, two glass pedestals appear in their lobby with a random card in each. The team then can pick one of these by breaking the glass, as after doing so the card in the unbroken one disappears. For the team that loses the round, they do not get a choice as only a single pedestal appears with a card for them to take. The teams can then use the new cards in the next fight, after which the pedestals appear again, etc. The map does not use OC's merchant system (at the moment).

Depends, for the CS:S mappadds you wouldn't because you need the actual .bsp map files for those. However maps using just CS:S models you could technically play, but it would look strange as there would be "ERROR" models everywhere.

Just HL2 to play. Of course if you want to play the episodes cooperatively you'll need them, but for the most part the custom maps only require HL2.

Read the summary at the top of the page. You can see that there are a lot of features and content not found in other co-op mods.

Furthermore, we place a large emphasis on custom maps outside of the hl2 campaign, so don't look at it simply as "Which mod to play through hl2 with." In the summary it points out that we have maps that offer farming and fishing gameplay just to point out just how different of an experience the new maps offer. Not to mention our custom maps which offer more standard gameplay are better suited to co-op with teamwork-dependant puzzles which just doesn't happen in the hl2 campaign simply because it is a single-player game converted to multiplayer.

If you look at co-op mods like svencoop, almost nobody plays the half-life campaign anymore, always the custom maps. The content outside of the campaign is a big draw for a lot of players, and we have A LOT of that and have even more coming in 1.35.

Longer day lengths were tried way back when this map was in beta. The problem with longer days is that since things like plant growth and income in general are tied to days passing, increasing the length of the days makes it way to hard to earn cash reasonably fast. Even in the Harvest Moon games the days are only 2-3 minutes.

The short days may seem stressful when you first start playing, but as you play longer you'll begin to like them as they make for less downtime in advancing the farm's progress.

The reason it kills you is just for gameplay mechanics, you can imagine it's werewolves or something ;). I've experimented with color correction for day/night but couldn't get good results, plus people on low-end computers wouldn't be able to see it so it's limited to env_fades right now. Color correction will be used for rainy weather in the 1.35 version however.

Only HL2 is required. Because you have HL:S and Episode 1, you will be able to play those cooperatively. However you will not be able to play Episode 2 since you don't own it, and there are a few custom maps that use episode 2 materials. But most of the needed materials are included so you should have few problems playing.

Only if you want to play hl:source or cs:s mappadds cooperatively. Otherwise you only need hl2 to play.
