Awesome! Thanks to the whole Alpha Project team. Merry Christmas indeed :)
In a word, no.
It works. You have to use a mission that contains code to read the hey file and you have to run as administrator.
The plan is to continue working on this, but incorporate a bigger and better this is war style mission into this with a story line to go along with the bigger war. Development has already been started on the bigger mission and there will also be a smaller one in between to establish a foothold on the island, but right now the scripting aspects of the mission and getting the logistics all worked out is top priority. As it stands there's a long way to go, but I think it will be worth the wait.
Read the story and all of the directions in the download.. this is explained in both places.
Try running the game and hotkey app as administrator. Let me know if the problem persists.
Look at my first reply and my official page link for this mod.
Try clicking the link I posted.
Feel free to drop by the community forums at Operationflashpoint.forummotion.com and ask your questions there. I'd be happy to help you out, but this is not the appropriate forum for that discussion. Thanks :)
Happy to hear you've been able to enjoy TIW. I know the game isn't perfect, but it's still an awesome game with a good community lurking in the shadows.
If you have save corruptions, just restart and the island state should be saved in the campaigndata file. I had to do this because of the game's shortcomings, but it keeps the mission alive for you. Then you just find a ride and head back to the front you were assaulting.
I hope you get alot from the new version!
Update coming very soon. v2.8 is finished and on the way.
Use the hotkeys. There are instructions above on this page explaining what key does what.
R8 is/was supposed to be incorporated into the SAR installer for OFDR, but due to differences in opinion, was never used in that capacity. You can extract the file SLTEndgame file into your "OFDR Game Directory> data_win> missions folder. The hotkey executable goes into the main game directory and the modded ai files go into the data_win directory if you wish to use them. I intend to post an update at some point since I've been making small changes here and there for quite some time and I'll make it a simple drag and drop one file to install the whole thing. If you have any propblems let me know and I'll do my best to assist you.
Extract the hotkey file into the main game directory (the one with ofdr.exe). Make sure you run both the game and the hotkey executable as administrator as they both need read/write permissions to the game directory.
Did you follow the directions in the above post?
The community content for Battlefield never ceases to amaze me. Keep it up!!
You're right, I am lucky because I can't stand idiots like you, especially when they're right in front of me. For future reference, one does not need to "know anything about" you when you air your stupidity with such splendor. Now pipe down junior.
Yes, I suppose you're right. Either way... still blown away by the detail.
I'm someone that doesn't want you to screw it up for the rest of us by posting dumb *** complaints to the authors of awesome mods. You my friend need a father figure because your behavior is not distinguishable between that of a two bit piece of trash sitting crying while you wait for your handout. Now like I said, cut your fingers off before you do it again.
Looking great man. The detail in your textures always blows me away! I swear the back side of that receiver looks like a photograph. Great work!!
What kind of a dumb **** says something like this?? You do realize when it's done it's going to be the bomb and you won't have shed a drop of sweat to obtain it... or maybe you don't. Do us all a favor and cut your fingers off so you're not tempted to type some dumb *** **** like this again.
This will happen if there are pla air defense assets in the area. If you look at you mission objectives they will change to completed or incomplete depending on your proximity to certain things in the game. When an ecelon mounts a vehicle a chech of the air defense status is performed and they bail out if the area is hot.
The latest version is available at the link below. I haven't had the time to update the page here on moddb yet, but in the meantime it can be had at the Operation Flashpont forum page.
Someone down voted me on this post..... seriously????
If you restart the This is War campaign, the esave file is automatically loaded. All of your progress should be updated in the fresh campaign start. I had to do this because the game is known to poop itself after a while and I didn't want people to have to restart the entire island every time DR decides not to cooperate. Let me know if you have any problems and I'll do my best to assist.
Not denying!! LOL.. I will be releasing the entire pack with the core and all alternative starts as soon as I get all of the versions worked out. I know it's been a long time coming, but fear not, the new version is on it's way :)
The esave file will load automatically every time you restart the campaign. It was designed so restore the state of the island in the case that you might have to restart for some reason. As long as you have the esave file in the This is War directory, the mission will look for it when it starts and if it's there, it will load it.
Maybe. I honestly haven't done much with anything for A3 because the game runs so poorly for me and I'm a bit disgusted that I spent upwards of $400 improving my rig for the game and it still runs like crap. I also haven't seen much interest in this project so it hasn't inspired me to pursue it very much. We'll see.
First of all, thank you and I'm glad you're enjoying it! I'll try to answer your questions in the order received. I have not written up any kind of manual or anything elses of the like. Outside of the hotkey assignments there's not really much else to know other than pay attention to what the display is telling you to do. There is no autosave feature. You must invoke a save using the numpad 0 key and therecannot be an enemy within 200m at the time of the save. The ammo crates at the startup point will supply you with everything available, beyond that you have to scavenge and loot dead bodies. There will be crates here and there, but not a substantial amount. There is no ai mod built into This is War. Keep practicing on that helo!!
I never got motion sickness from it, but I agree that the FOV could have used a setting in the options or something. The console concessions made by CM were ultimately the doom of this game in the public eye, but it's still great fun to play.
The thing that has been causing coop games to crash at loadup has been discovered. It's been quite some time since I've done anything on This Is War, but this important development has prompted me to reopen this project. Keep your eyes peeled for a new version with fully working coop play in the not so distant future.
It is... however, there is some kind of bug that causes the game to crash right out of the gate. If you would, please give it a try and let me know if you experience the same. Since I have only tested on lan in my own setup, I am interested in seeing if the result is the same on another setup or across the net.
It's largely an allusion to what might have been had the cold war escalated into an all out military conflict. If you're Russian I suppose it means the US is always bad, doesn't it??
Thank you for giving it a try:) Coop is slated for future releases, but for right now the core gameplay is the number one priority. I'll be posting progress reports as things move along.
Super nice detail! It's really looking great JONES! Can't wait to play!
Very cool. I actually have been using this for a while now. Got it from bfsp. This definitely changes the tactical decisions of the ai and makes for a different experience than you might expect if you've played bf2 single player. Great to see it here on moddb now!
