Can we add lightsabers? Probably if we get that far. Can we add signature characters like Vader and Luke? Most likely not due to copyrights.
A little early to say what units will be or how many there are. Who knows? We may make a few classes and be done or find some new units added in along the way. Point is we just can't say for sure just yet. You can expect, however, to find the troops reminiscent of Battlefront 2. Much inspiration is being drawn from other battlefront games, so the usual class system will probably fit in somehow.
It does look a little stiff, but that's perfectly fine. Fine tuning details to achieve smooth movement and transitions will arrive in time. No doubt there is always room to improve, but having well coded animations that make it look true to the movies is fantastic progress. Imagine how it all will look once it is well polished and ready for release! On the matter of the probe droid, if I understand correctly, it will most likely be equipment used by infantry similar to how it is used in Battlefront 1 & 2. The team certainly drives towards making a worthy title for the battlefront series, so hearing yet another individual is excited by their tireless work is awesome! Thanks for the support and input! This is way ahead of even the idea of making a "firing range" of sorts, but on the big IF that its done, it could be taken a step further and possibly be used for a small tutorial. I can think of how long the event coding would take though so that's probably wishful thinking for the time being. . .hmm. . .urban style training/battle map perhaps. . .
Thanks! There is stuff being worked on that we have yet to show you but we will reveal the devs hard work in our next update. We are currently focused on Hoth with the famous battle between the Rebels and Imperials. Speaking of which, now that we are going to give to you the ability to battle on this snowy battlefeild, how would you strategize for your team? Would obliteration of the Imperial armour be your best bet or would getting the defenses inside the base prepped to make lethal "do not enter" zones? Or if imperialism is more your taste, would you storm the base all at once? Or would you savor the strength of your AT-ATs in a drawn out engagement?
If you mean main menus and the like, yes! Most certainly! There may not be too much involved at first though, after all. So far the only thing being worked on is the absolute bones and core mechanics of the game along with models and sound. Things more complicated probably wont make it in for a good bit.
Its an idea floating around but we cannot say anything on the matter yet, not for certain that is. Like most everything, its still up in the air as the team is simply not at that point yet.
Its a possibility, but for the time being, getting the game working on at least one server is priority. Once the game is up and running smoothly, things like that will have more thought put into them. The same can be said for most other features, such as animating boarding or leaving vehicles. It really depends on what can be done and in what amount of time.
Wulf has stated he intends to try to finish this, I sound like a broken record, but we need to let him get his team on it when they can. After all, they have lives too! Also, Unification is his teams priority at the moment, so not as much time is being spent on the clone wars. Is it cancelled? no, not yet. Will it be soon? well. . .Wulf and his team decide that. (And dont go pestering them about it. . .I can imagine now how many people ask on a regular basis. . .)With this said, try to hang on for the ride, when it is released, if I know Frayed Wires, oh, it will be GOOD!
An interesting idea, supposing they decide to, what kind of layout do you think it should have? The dense agricultural area with trenches, the winding road, and open plains? Or would an urban outpost surrounded by thick forests make for a better approach? All of this is speculation of course, but it's always a good idea to get ideas out in the open. Who knows where the designers will take this mod? Random ideas become foundations for innovation, so throw them out there! At worst we give the developers something to laugh at, and at best, they love the idea and run wild with it! Yes, we hoped we could have a release by the end of 2013, however, this didn't work out. Sometime in 2014, the earlier the better, is the new target date.
Sadly, this is not even finished yet so it cannot be put on even the PC battlefront 2, much less the Xbox version. Wulf intends to finish what he started however so lets give him time to get his work with the Mass Effect mod out of the way so more time can be devoted towards this project. Don't worry! We're still here and we plan to stay! If EA wants us shutdown, they have yet to do so. Until such a horrific thing should occur, we will keep on truckin'!
It will be more of a tactical FPS, though a 3rd person view is planned to be included. Arcade style is nice, but it wouldn't do the Battlefront series justice. A great way to see what we plan to make is to watch a video of or play a Battlefront game. Battlecry is heavily influenced by the other battlefront games and should play similarly. Sorry, but at the moment, we do not know. I apologize but the modders have not had as much time to devote to this project yet, but it is coming along. Wulfman has said he intends to finish this mod so rest assured, it is not dead!
Well put it this way, if he sees no one who wants to play this mod, why spend time on it? That is why people like me are here cheering him on, perhaps a futile attempt at motivation saying, "hey, I really like what you are doing and want to see it finished because I would TOTALLY play it!" I have heard other modders for different games say that just hearing such a positive reponse from people encourages them to keep doing what they do! Obviously, the Mass Effect mod is well responded to and getting much work done, which makes sense. Sadly though, yes, modders do in fact have lives and can't spend their hours grinding away at coding. So when time is short they spend it on what they deem best use, so until more time can be devoted to this mod, it will be a little slower than us impatient fans would like, so all we can do is root them on!
The mod is ongoing, I promise! Sadly, however, it has been given less love in favor of other projects, though Wulf has graciously told us he plans to finish this mod. Indeed, I hope that when all is said and done, people will enjoy both. Readily switching from the big company to the indie and back again for the experience of both. After all, the game is all about a good experience, for without it, why play? Reminds me of my first battlefront game, battlefront 2 no less. It was unlike anything I had played and brought out a new sensation of star wars, the only thing in my life at the time. I look forward to Battlecry's release to enjoy a second amazing revival after 1313 and first assault made like tie fighters and got blown out of the sky.
Challenge accepted! However, our projects are on the same line, but different sides of the same coin. Our goal is an improvement over battlefront 2, a worthy successor. DICE is making a reboot of the series, taking the core of the series, and building something new out of it without making it a new style of game altogether. This aside, it will be very interesting to see how the two play out their similarities and differences. Breaking away from official PR and injecting personal opinion, I would like to see the two be very different, each offering a different style to it. Each with its unique game play and overall feel. Personal desires dismissed, when both games are released, the fans, and only the fans, can decide if one is better than the other. (We're better!!) Sadly, this mod is still in production so there is no link available to give you, however i can surely promise work is being done, be it slowly. The team, of course, is busy building this game we all crave, so they have PLENTY of reason to be busy little bees!
