Robco, basically, Roleplay adds a whole extra level to servers that modding can't achieve. You could have the shittiest mod in existence and still have a great server due to roleplay. Freeworlds: Tides of War is going to be a roleplay environment whether you like it or not.
As Sizer said, if you don't, play on your own server.
Do not tell devs what to do with their mod. Guess what, it's their mod and I'm pretty sure they don't care for your narrow minded, self-righteous opinion. I really don't think they're going to read that and go 'OH **** WHAT HAVE WE DONE QUICK DELETE EVERYTHING WE NEED TO MAKE IT MORE FREE.'
I'm sure you'll enjoy flying around the awesome looking galaxy alone.

It's a fun game.
Some people just need to get over themselves, the competition is between the Devs of the popular games, not the players.
I've been playing MW1 and 2 again recently, and the campaigns of both are solid, and offer a lot of fun times.
I won't compare it to other games of the genre. Why? Because there's actually no reason to. They're all good games in their own right.
